GGPoker Announce Streaming Giant Lex Veldhuis as Latest Ambassador

Lex Veldhuis was once synonymous with PokerStars, so his move to GGPoker as their latest Global Ambassador caused raised eyebrows in the poker industry this week. Veldhuis, a talented Dutch poker player live, is an online poker behemoth, and his streamed sessions attract thousands of viewers every time he sits down to play. Now, he’ll play on GGPoker.

Who is Lex Veldhuis?

For many years, Lex Veldhuis was seen as an online poker pioneer, and one that PokerStars gleefully clung closer to their chest than pocket aces in a home game. Veldhuis, a Dutch online poker player, was smart, charismatic and as adept at making friends in the live arena as he was at crushing souls online. The perfect fit for the market leader in poker at the time.

When Lex Veldhuis turned his ‘Meet-Up Game’ skills from real-life into an online streaming fanbase to die for, he became the so-called ‘King of Twitch’, turning his subscribers from a couple of hundred poker die-hards into thousands of mans, both mainstream and niche.

Since then, Veldhuis’ cache has gone through the roof in poker. Much-loved by the online community and all those who have met him live, the poker legend was always going to be rich pickings once he left PokerStars at the start of 2026. Now we know his future after his destination as a GGTeam member was revealed in a cryptic X post by the global poker giant.

What Will Veldhuis Bring to GGPoker?

A champion of the online poker community, Lex Veldhuis will be aiming to take over as GGPoker’s incumbent content creator king. On a site that already has Global Poker Award winner Greg Goes All-in and the eight-time WSOP bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Famer Daniel Negreanu on their roster, that seems a tough ask, but Veldhuis is no ordinary streamer.

Like fellow GGTeam member Kevin Martin, the Dutchman has an insatiable appetite not only for poker but being the best he can be in any space he occupies, and that hunger and desire will stand him in good stead.

Veldhuis’ official job title will be Global Streaming Ambassador. A truly global talent,  Veldhuis not only has a pro-active personality, but his play reflects that at the felt. He’s fast paced, talks plenty and has a fanbase that engages with him en masse. Now streaming his sessions on GGPoker, the transferable viewership is a massive coup for the brand.

GGPoker’s Streamer Mode awards streamers with massive benefits, and there’s no doubt that Veldhuis’ deal will have included this part his presence. In sports like soccer, this would be image rights, but poker’s battleground for image and style is the streamed game, as recent views on Veldhuis’ Twitch stream are through the roof.

GGPoker’s Latest Ambassador on “New Projects”

“I wanted to be part of this process. I’m looking forward to diving even deeper into what the site has to offer.”

As he took on the new role, Veldhuis eulogized on what he considers a role he simply couldn’t turn down.

“I’m really excited to officially join GGTeam as Global Streaming Ambassador and begin this new chapter,” he said. “GGPoker is the biggest poker site in the world, and it really feels like the natural fit for me and my community. Over the last year I’ve played exclusively on GG and have been genuinely impressed by the software and the size of the tournaments.”

Veldhuis credited GGPoker as having “completely invigorated my enjoyment of poker and grinding again”, and was impressed with those he spoke to in the organization.

“Every time I’ve spoken with the GGPoker team I’ve been intrigued by their vision and their drive to innovate,” he said. “It made me realize I wanted to be part of this process. I’m looking forward to diving even deeper into what the site has to offer and working on some awesome new projects together. I can’t wait to go on this new journey and I’m excited for what the future holds.”

It’s not just Veldhuis who feels positive about the announcement, with his long-time colleague at PokerStars and now fellow ambassador at GGPoker, Global Ambassador Daniel Negreanu keen for his old friend to join.
