Brandon Wilson’s fourth million-dollar score of his poker career was a huge one. The Chicago, Illinois player, who now sits in 94th position on the All-Time Money List via the Hendon Mob, overcame players such as his fellow Americans Jeremy Ausmus and Alex Foxen at the final table, while a very famous Canadian pro was unlucky to miss out on the bubble.

Kristen Foxen Falls Foul of Lady Luck

In the $100,000-entry event, just five players made money and that meant a painful bubble player would miss out on $215,000. That player turned out to be Kristen Foxen. Playing at the same table as her husband and fellow tournament crusher Alex, Kristen’s own bubble hand was unfortunate, but the hand before it was frankly outrageous.

Nick Petrangelo moved all-in with pocket sixes and was up against a bigger stack in the form of Alex Foxen with pocket tens. Not only that, but a six was folded pre-flop. Kristen waited patiently, hoping that he husband would take out Petrangelo and the remaining five players including her would all be in profit. After a safe flop, Petrangelo was drawing to a one-outer but incredibly, he hit his miracle six on the turn and no luck came on the river for the Foxens.

Kristen, down to the short stack, moved all-in shortly after with ace-eight suited. Called by the chip leader and eventual champion Brandon Wilson (below) with pocket nines, Kristen managed to have an open-ended straight draw and was chasing 10 cards to the river, but none of them came and the Canadian poker hero to female and male players alike crashed out in sixth place for nothing.

Mateos Unable to be Matador

Spanish player Adrian Mateos was the man to depart in fifth place for $215,000. All-in with king-jack, he had the misfortune to be dominated to defeat. All-in with king-jack, Mateos ran into Wilson’s ace-jack, and no help across the board meant the youngest-ever winner of five WSOP bracelets was on the rail.

Soon, Jeremy Ausmus joined him in fourth place for a score of $310,000. Ausmus, last year’s PGT Championship Freeroll winner for $500,000, also ran into a dominating hand, his queen-nine no match for the ace-nine belonging to Petrangelo. Ausmus found no assistance from the board and bowed out before the podium places.

Kristen Foxen’s husband Alex Foxen was next to lose his tournament life, as the U.S. poker giant saw his pocket sevens lose to Brandon Wilson’s pocket eights, as a flop of two aces and an eight killed Foxen’s chances almost dead. After no luck on the turn, Foxen was drawing dead to the river and picking up $450,000 after handshakes were exchanged between the three men.

Wilson Wins Heads-Up for Latest Epic Win

Wilson began the heads-up battle duel with a slight lead of 4.5 million chips to Petrangelo’s 4 million and increased that lead before pairing his queen on a board as wet as the Bellagio fountain nearby. Petrangelo barrelled away with semi-bluffs holding pocket sevens – Wilson’s new favorite hand, and on the river that completed Wilson’s straight, Petrangelo emptied the clip and got snap-called to his doom.
