Already one of the most accomplished players in WSOP history, Mizrachi’s win completes one major piece missing from his resume. And just minutes after sealing the deal, he was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, an honor few would argue he hadn’t already earned.

A Run for the Ages

Mizrachi entered the final table second in chips behind Kenny Hallaert, a familiar face from the 2016 Main Event. With a stacked field and millions on the line, Mizrachi kept his signature composure. Then, he slowly turned up the heat.

Early eliminations included South Korea’s Daehyung Lee, who was the first to bust after running pocket eights into Mizrachi’s pocket tens. By the time the table was down to five players, Mizrachi had built a hefty chip lead and didn’t look back.

Some final table highlights include:

  • Leo Margets added another deep run to her resume, finishing 7th for $1.5M.
  • Luka Bojovic couldn’t survive Mizrachi’s heater, busting in 5th with A♦10♠ against A♣Q♦.
  • Kenny Hallaert, chasing redemption, bowed out early on Day 11 after jamming K♣J♠ into A♠K♠.

Once the action resumed for the final four, it was Mizrachi’s table to lose and he wasn’t giving up control.

Heads-Up Battle: Wasnock’s Run Falls Just Short

The last hurdle was John Wasnock, a relative unknown who played far beyond his resume.

Michael Mizrachi held a nearly 4-to-1 chip lead over John Wasnock, a former finance turned poker hopeful, who had quietly (and impressively) navigated the massive field.

Early in the heads-up match, Wasnock made things interesting. With the crowd behind him, he found a key double-up just a few hands in, jamming with top pair against Mizrachi’s missed straight draw and fading all outs. With that one hand, Wasnock closed the gap and gave fans a glimpse of possible chaos.

For a few tense rounds, the dynamic shifted. Wasnock loosened up, leaning into positional raises and forcing Mizrachi into some rare laydowns. It felt like momentum was shifting.

But if anyone knows how to adjust under pressure, it’s Mizrachi.

The Grinder slowed down, recalibrated, and started grinding back, one pot at a time. He leaned on experience, picked his spots carefully, and chipped away at Wasnock’s stack without taking unnecessary risks. Every time Wasnock tried to build something, Mizrachi dismantled it.

Final Hand Recap:

  • Mizrachi: A♠J♦
  • Wasnock: K♥Q♥
  • Board: 5♠ 8♣ 9♣ 4♦ 2♦

The board ran dry. Misrachi’s ace held, and with it, he sealed the one win that had always slipped away.

As the final river card hit, Mizrachi stood up, arms raised. Finally, the WSOP Main Event Champion. Wasnock, gracious in defeat, walked away $6 million richer and with massive respect from the poker world. His name wasn’t on many radars before this summer, but it’s there now.

Poker Hall of Fame Induction

Minutes after the last hand, Mizrachi’s historic night reached even greater heights with a surprise induction into the WSOP Poker Hall of Fame. Joined on stage by past legends and fellow champions, he became the first player to win both the $50K Poker Players Championship and the WSOP Main Event in the same year.

WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart called it: “the most impressive feat in poker history.”

Mizrachi’s Career by the Numbers

  • WSOP Bracelets: 8 total (including four $50K PPC titles)
  • Live Tournament Earnings: Now over $25 million
  • Main Event Titles: 1 (2025)
  • WSOP Hall of Fame: Inducted in 2025

“I’m Never Going to Retire”

After the win, Mizrachi was emotional, but focused.  “This was the one I was chasing,” he said. “I feel like I cemented my legacy tonight. But I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be back at the tables next year, no doubt.”

And just like that, The Grinder reminded everyone that legends never really stop grinding.
