The 2025 Poker Masters series thrilled thousands of poker fans on PokerGO as it streamed ten events, each with an escalating buy-in. Ranging from $5,000 in the opening ‘Showcase’ event with a $1m guarantee to $25,000 in the 10th and final event, the series saw victories for the former Global Poker Index number one Alex Foxen, PokerGO owner Cary Katz and Brandon Wilson, who claimed victory in the final tournament for a top score of $464,000. But the infamous Purple Jacket was slipped around the shoulders of David Coleman, whose win in Event #1, coupled with two more cashes was enough to see him claim glory on the Las Vegas Strip.

Alex Foxen’s Landmark Win

Alex Foxen’s win in event #6 was an important one, not only in the context of the Poker Masters Championship but personally to the American poker powerhouse too. In beating the Canadian Doug Lee, he made sure that eventually, the Canadian would need to do too much to win the title. Foxen didn’t start out as the leader, with his fellow American Martin Zamani the chip leader.

Zamani held over twice as many chips as nearest challengers Andrew Lichtenberger and Alex Foxen. Foxen flipped his way back into contention, but Lichtenberger was less fortunate, departing in fourth place for $98,000. While dominant at one point, Zamani soon crashed out himself, running pocket nines into Foxen’s pocket queens.

Heads-up, Foxen had a marginal lead over Lee, but when Foxen’s top pair turned into rivered trips, his all-in move was called by Lee, who lost out for a score of $180,000 as runner-up. Foxen’s victory was worth $272,000, and in winning it, he edged clear of the 2025 WSOP Main Event world champion Michael Mizrachi on the 2025 PGT leaderboard overall, with only 40 players making that cut by the end of the year’s tournaments.

Cary Katz Stuns Hyman in Event #7

The American tournament legend Cary Katz won the next Poker Masters event after coming from behind to stun the less experienced Jared Hyman heads-up. Hyman came in as the chip leader and took out three of the final five opponents he faced. But in the end, he couldn’t beat Katz, whose victory meant a top prize of $223,000 and a shot at glory in his own PokerGO Studio.

There were 77 total entries, with just 11 of those players getting paid. After stars such as Spencer Champlin (11th for $23,100), Landon Tice (8th for $30,800) and Dylan Linde (7th for $30,800) all left, the final six players began the final with Hyman in charge and wielding the axe, eliminating both Matthew McEwan and Daniel Sepiol in the early stages. Soon, the Japanese player Masato Yokosawa took John Riordan in fourth but then went the way of the other final table victims, making a set of nines but handing Hyman the king-high flush to send the action heads-up.

With a 2:1 chip lead against Cary Katz, Hyman was the favorite but couldn’t hold with queens against Katz’s ace-king when winning that flip would have given Hyman the title. Instead, Katz came roaring back, and sealed victory for his first Purple Jacket event trophy, along with that top prize of $223,000.

David Coleman Wears the Jacket in Frantic Finale

The American tournament professional David Coleman won the overall Poker Masters championship after a thrilling final event. The event winner was Brandon Wilson, who won the $25,000-entry final event for a score of $464,000 after he and Coleman did a deal heads-up. That all meant Coleman wore the infamous Purple Jacket as the midnight hour approached in Las Vegas inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA.

Over the past six years, players such as Steffen Sontheimer, Sam Soverel, Michael Addamo, Sean Winter, Stephen Chidwick, and the 2024 champion Jim Collopy have all won the Poker Masters Purple Jacket. With three cashes, David Coleman earned that honor in 2025 and won over $657,700 across the ten-event series.

After winning the opening event for $270,000, Coleman followed that result up five rounds later, with a score of $32,700 in 11th place of Event #6. Coincidentally, that was won by Alex Foxen, who led the championship right up until the podium places of the final event, when Coleman knew that if he could outlast David Chen and Doug Lee to the final two then he would be the overall champion. Doug Lee ran Coleman closest, coming third, but Coleman held him off, then did a deal with the eventual winner Brandon Wilson.

After the deal, Wilson’s a pair of kings beat Coleman’s paired queens on the final board to give the former $464,000, with Coleman claiming $355,000 as runner-up but leapfrogging Alex Foxen into top spot to win the 2025 Purple Jacket and the $25,000 PGT Passport.
