Joining the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Nick Schulman as a player with eight WSOP titles, Anderson’s win was an impressive one, as he completely dominated the latter stages of the event to reign supreme. Up top, Anderson won a top prize of $48,914 as he took to the virtual felt under the pseudonym ‘SethRogan’.

‘Jackpot’ Event Fills Up

Calvin Anderson’s victory came in the $777 No-Limit Hold’em Lucky 7’s event, part of the WSOP Online Series. In the event, there were 364 total entries, as Anderson won a rare event in NLHE. The mixed game pro, who is the most successful WSOP Razz player in the series’ history, became the 12th player in poker to win eight coveted WSOP bracelets in the process.

Just a few short months ago, Anderson was picking up his sixth and seventh bracelets of his poker career in Las Vegas at the Horseshoe Las Vegas as he claimed victory in the $10,000 Razz Championship and $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship that he played in mid-June. Winning over $770,000 with those two results alone, Anderson’s latest victory might not have added six figures to his bankroll but further cements his legacy as one of poker’s greats.

It was appropriate for Anderson to be playing slots when his own numbers came up in the 777 WSOP event. The ‘jackpot’ style title represents the buy-in of $777, and Anderson’s edge at that level is considerable. Grinding the one-armed bandits and combo pads of slot machines might not have been too gruelling but it freed up his head for bigger decisions and Anderson took a relaxed route to victory.

The Final Table

Hanging out at Resorts World on Monday afternoon to eat, Anderson’s desire to play a WSOP Online event is not out of character, both personally and historically. Ryan Depaulo famously won a WSOP bracelet in a Walmart car park and Anderson’s own online heroics signified his eighth crown in style if not luxury.

After playing slots, he drove home in his Tesla – presumably during a five-minute break on 55 minutes past the hour – and booted up his laptop for the final stages. By that point, Anderson was at the final table and crushing souls. Souls like Nick Palma, who finished seventh, just he did at a PGT PLO Series final table this week.

After Palma busted for $6,987, Anderson grew his stack still further. When Justin Vaysman left in fourth place for a score of $19,692, Anderson was in complete control. Another elimination later, and the American was a huge 50:1 favorite to win the heads-up battle. The player ‘Joedontknowh’ was unable to close that Grand Canyon-sized gap and eventually fell in second place for $36,209 while Anderson claimed the top prize of $48,914 and his eighth WSOP crown.

Where Does Anderson’s Latest Bracelet Rank?

Calvin Anderson, who has $8.2 million in live tournament cashes, has now won three WSOP bracelets in the past four months, and his third career online bracelet of eight overall. Joining legends of the game such as Daniel Negreanu and Nick Schulman on the same number, Anderson is now just one bracelet behind some of poker’s biggest ever winners at the World Series of Poker.

The first time Anderson won gold in Las Vegas was 12 years ago. The mixed game player took down the $1,500-entry Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event for $190,538, beating Joe Tehan heads-up at a final table that also included Melissa Burr and Ted Forrest.

In his career, Anderson has become known as the ‘Razz King’, and with good merit. Not only did he win the $10,000 Razz Championship this past summer, outlasting fellow finalists Philip Sternheimer and Yuval Bronshtein to claim the $357,026 top prize, but Anderson also won the corresponding event in 2018. Eight years ago, Anderson’s win came when he beat Frank Kassela in the final duel to earn $309,220.

Now on eight wins, players such as ‘The Grand Old Man of Poker’ Johnny Moss, the 2025 WSOP Main Event winner Michael Mizrachi, British mixed game legend Benny Glaser and the reigning WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb are all just one win out of reach of Anderson. With three the largest number of bracelets won by a single player in a calendar year, Calvin Anderson has the majority of three months left to make poker history.

Can he do it? Who would bet against him in this form?
