It’s fair to say that the release of the full World Series of Poker summer schedule is the most anticipated announcement in poker each year.

The WSOP schedule is the basis for nearly every poker player’s summer. With seven weeks of poker tournaments, it provides something for almost every level of player. It is also the foundation around which other Las Vegas poker rooms build their summer schedules.

129 Summer WSOP Bracelets

The 54th Annual World Series of Poker will kick off on Tuesday, May 30. And the final tournaments will end on July 18.

There are 95 live bracelet events on the 2023 WSOP summer schedule, all set to take place at the combined Caesars properties of Horseshoe Las Vegas (formerly Bally’s) and Paris Las Vegas. They will use the ballrooms in both locations.

There will also be 34 online bracelet events. Twenty will play out on the combined Nevada/New Jersey WSOP-dot-com site. Since Michigan is not yet sharing that player pool – despite Michigan and the other states approving it in May 2022 – Michigan will run its own set of seven bracelet events online. And Pennsylvania will replicate that exact seven-event schedule.

Main Event Details

The 2023 WSOP Main Event, also known as the $10K buy-in No Limit Hold’em World Championship, will run from July 3-17 as follows:

As has been tradition, there will be no reentries for the Main Event.

Tournament of Champions

Last year, the Tournament of Champions (TOC) took place at the end of the summer series, but this year, it will help kick things off. The three-day tournament will start on Wednesday, May 31 and run for three days.

The prize pool will be $1M, and there is no buy-in…for qualifying players. Any player who won/wins a WSOP Circuit ring – both live and online – from July 20, 2022 through May 22, 2023 will receive an invitation to play. Winners from the WSOP Online in 2022 and WSOP Europe 2022 bracelet winners will also be invited to play.

All players who win tournaments at the 2023 WSOP will receive invitations to play in the 2024 TOC.

A full list of players who qualify is on the TOC page of the WSOP website.

There is no buy-in, but players must register in person on location in Las Vegas.

New Events in 2023

Each year, the WSOP tries to add at least one but usually several new tournament(s) to the schedule. It spices things up a bit. This year, there are a number of them, as follows:

  • May 30-June 2 (Event 2): $25K buy-in NLHE 6-Handed High Roller (1 reentry)
  • May 31–June 5 (Event 3): $1K buy-in NLHE Mystery Millions (4 flights, 1 reentry/flight, payouts begin Day 1, bounties begin Day 2, top bounty $1M, 1st place to win $1M GTD)
  • June 7-12 (Event 18): $300 buy-in NLHE Gladiators of Poker (4 flights, 2 reentries/flight, payouts every flight, $3M GTD prize pool)
  • June 7-9 (Event 20): $1,500 buy-in Badugi 6-Handed (1 reentry)
  • June 14-16 (Event 35): $10K buy-in NLHE 8-Handed Secret Bounty (2 reentries)
  • June 17-19 (Event 41): $1,500 buy-in Big O (5-Card PLO-8 Hi/Lo) (2 reentries)
  • July 10-13 (Event 80): $25K buy-in HORSE 8-Handed High Roller (1 reentry)
  • July 11-14 (Event 81): $600 buy-in NLHE Ultra Stack (2 flights, 2 reentries/flight, payouts every flight)
  • July 12-14 (Event 83): $1,500 buy-in NLHE Short Deck (2 reentries)
  • July 13-15 (Event 87): $2,500 buy-in Mixed Omaha-8 Hi/Lo & 7-Card Stud-8 Hi/Lo (1 reentry)

Weekend Opportunities

The WSOP takes care to schedule big tournaments on the weekends, especially for players who have employment outside of poker and play recreationally or otherwise part-time. It is an opportunity for players to find lower buy-ins and take long weekends to play in Las Vegas.

This is a quick list of those events:

  • May 31–June 5 (Event 3): $1K buy-in NLHE Mystery Millions (4 flights, 1 reentry/flight, payouts begin Day 1, bounties begin Day 2, top bounty $1M, 1st place to win $1M GTD)
  • June 7-12 (Event 18): $300 buy-in NLHE Gladiators of Poker (4 flights, 2 reentries/flight, payouts every flight, $3M GTD prize pool)
  • June 16-20 (Event 39): $1,500 buy-in NLHE Monster Stack (2 flights, may play Day 1B if busted in Day 1A)
  • June 23-27 (Event 53): $1,500 buy-in NLHE Millionaire Maker (2 flights, 1 reentry/flight, 1st place to win $1M GTD)
  • June 30-July 3 (Event 70): $400 buy-in NLHE Colossus (2 flights, 1 reentry/flight, payouts every flight)
  • July 2-4 (Event 74): $1K buy-in NLHE Mini Main Event (freezeout)
  • July 7-11 (Event 77): $777 buy-in NLHE 7-Handed Lucky 7s (3 flights, unlimited reentries, payouts every flight, 1st place to win $777,777 GTD)

Most of these tournaments span longer than a regular three-day weekend, but playing a latter flight reduces the amount of time necessary in Las Vegas for the weekend action.

Specialty Events

There are always tournaments offered for a specific poker demographic or to serve a particular purpose. Those will be:

  • May 30-31 (Event 1): $500 buy-in NLHE Casino Employees (1 reentry)
  • June 21-25 (Event 48): $1K buy-in NLHE Seniors Championship (2 flights, 1 reentry/flight, players must be 50 or older)
  • June 22-24 (Event 51): $1K buy-in/team NLHE Tag Team (freezeout, two-person teams must register together)
  • June 25-27 (Event 56): $500 buy-in NLHE Salute to Warriors (1 reentry, proceeds donated to USO and other US veterans’ organizations)
  • June 27-30 (Event 61): $1K buy-in NLHE Super Seniors (1 reentry, players must be 60 or older)
  • June 29-July 2 (Event 67): $1K buy-in NLHE Ladies Championship (1 reentry, buy-in is $10K but women receive discount to play for $1K)
  • July 13-14 (Event 86): $1,979 buy-in NLHE Poker Hall of Fame Bounty (unlimited reentries, members of Poker HOF are bounties, amount determined by year of induction)
  • July 14-15 (Event 89): $1K buy-in NLHE Flip & Go (unlimited reentries, pineapple play in first round, all-in every hand to determine one player to move on)

While the Casino Employees, Ladies, and two Seniors iterations are restricted to specific players allowed to participate, the others – Tag Team, Salute to Warriors, HOF Bounty, and Flip & Go – have quirky and unique rules.

High Rollers

High-stakes poker players like their high rollers. They can take their massive bankrolls and plunk down the buy-ins faster than most people can gather money to pay their rent.

Poker fans, too, have grown to love watching poker legends and new faces alike, wanting to catch a glimpse of their favorite players playing for often unfathomable amounts of money.

Players want them and poker fans tune in for them, so there are more high rollers in the 2023 WSOP than ever before. For the purpose of this piece, we’ll label any buy-ins of more than $10K are here:

  • May 30-June 2 (Event 2): $25K buy-in NLHE 6-Handed High Roller (1 reentry)
  • June 2-4 (Event 8): $25K buy-in NLHE Heads-Up Championship (freezeout, 64-player cap)

  • July 12-14 (Event 84): $50K buy-in NLHE High Roller (1 reentry)

Online MI & PA Events

As mentioned, Michigan signed the agreement to allow its online poker operators to connect with those in New Jersey and Nevada. However, there has been no sign that WSOP-dot-com is ready to start the interstate poker to include Michigan.

What that means is that the Michigan and Pennsylvania tournaments online are identical in both states.

  • June 4 (OB Event 1): $500 buy-in NLHE Bankroll Builder (3 reentries)
  • June 11 (OB Event 2): $400 buy-in NLHE PKO 8-Max (2 reentries)
  • June 18 (OB Event 3): $500 buy-in NLHE Turbo (2 reentries)
  • June 25 (OB Event 4): $400 buy-in NLHE PKO Deepstack (2 reentries)
  • July 2 (OB Event 5): $600 buy-in NLHE Deepstack (2 reentries)
  • July 9 (OB Event 6): $300 NLHE (2 reentries)
  • July 16 (OB Event 7): $500 NLHE Summer Saver (3 reentries)

All seven events for both states are one-day tournaments with no live components.

Non-Bracelet Events

The “dailies” have become an integral part of the WSOP each year. Daily tournaments, ready and waiting for players who bust out of WSOP events or who simply want lower buy-ins, are an important part of the summer lineup.

The running of the dailies is always subject to space availability. On days of very large bracelet events, a daily tournament may be cancelled. More often than not, though, they do run as scheduled.

  • June 1-July 17: $250 buy-in Daily NLHE Deepstack at 1pm
  • June 1-July 17: $400 buy-in Daily NLHE Deepstack at 4pm
  • June 1-July 17: $200 buy-in Daily NLHE Deepstack at 8pm

Then, there are special tournaments that run on certain days of the week or as a one-off event.

  • June 5-July 10: $250 buy-in Monday HORSE at 3pm
  • June 28: $150 buy-in NLHE Ladies Warmup at 6pm
  • May 31/June 7,14,20,28/July 5,12: NLHE Seniors (50 and older) at 9am

The WSOP schedule in full is posted on the WSOP website in printable form.

The same schedule is listed in full on a different WSOP page, this one with links to structure sheets for each event.
