The Quick Summary
Prior to the UIGEA's enactment in 2006, 888 Poker was one of the most popular poker sites on the net. Part of 888 Holdings, which also owns the enormously popular online casino, Casino-On-Net, Pacific pulled out of the US market in 2006, but it still retains a good number of players, many of which are customers of their online casino looking to gamble. As a result, Pacific has a reputation for some of the loosest and juiciest Hold'em games around. While Pacific isn't as popular as it was during its heyday, it is still a great place for non-US customers looking for a game with a lot of loose action.
Popularity: 7 of 10 - Good
Traffic on Pacific is down quite a bit from three years ago, but there are still plenty of Hold'em games available on the site. The site typically has 2,000 or so real money players on the tables, but numbers can increase during the weekend. While it is difficult to find a good non-Hold'em game, the juicy cash games, online casino traffic and multi-table tournament schedule continue to bring players in.

Security: 8 of 10 - Good
Pacific assures their customers that their financial transactions will be secure. The site enlists the independent company Intersafe Global, which utilizes advanced RSA encryptions to protect all data transferred on the site. Pacific's web page describes the specifics of the random number generator they employ and offers a list of its independent certifications, including the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA) "Safe and Fair" certification.
Player Competition: 9 of 10 - Excellent
Since its launch in 2002, Pacific has been known as the home for juicy cash games where the action is fast and furious. The UIGEA slowed down their traffic, but the overflow of players from 888's Casino-On-Net venture keep the pool of recreational players eager to spend money gambling fully stocked.
Site Software: 8 of 10 - Good
The graphics and layout of Pacific's site are designed well with a ton of useful features. The hand histories can be easily exported from the site and they offer an instant replay feature where players can watch an animated version of the hands they just played. They have recently added a version of the software that doesn't need to be downloaded and can be played instantly. This version of the software also makes Pacific compatible for Macs.
Customer Support: 9 of 10 - Excelent
There are a number of ways to contact Pacific's customer support. They offer e-mail, live chat and a dedicated toll-free phone line for each of the major countries in which they have customers. Pacific's webpage also offers a database of frequently asked questions that customers can consult.

Company Ethics: 8 of 10 - Good
As part of the giant conglomerate 888 Holdings, Pacific has a longstanding reputation as a legitimate and safe site. They have never had any major scandals and have been recognized by several independent organizations as a quality organization.
Site Promotions: 8 of 10 - Good
888 Poker is big on freeroll tournaments for their customers and offers them weekly to new users, players who redeposit and participants in the 888 Poker VIP program. The site also offers 100% bonuses to first time depositors up to $400. The biggest guarantee on their tournament schedule is a $100,000 deep stack event held every Saturday, but there are several other MTTs with 5 figure guarantees as well.
Overall Review: 8.1 of 10 - Good
Pacific's customer base may be smaller than some of the other major sites, but it makes up for volume with its quality (or rather, softness) of competition. Software upgrades over the last year have greatly improved the quality of play on the site as well. They don't accept customers from the US, but Pacific is still a favorite of many cash game players outside of the States.
