WSOP.com is One Year Old in Nevada

The WSOP.com entered Nevada’s newly regulated online poker market one year ago, on September 19, 2013. The online poker room has, therefore, decided to celebrate its one-year anniversary by launching two lucrative promotions.
The bigger promotion is the WSOP.com Anniversary Tournament Series, which comprises nine online poker tournaments. Although this promotion was launched on September 19, players still have an opportunity to take part in it as there are six more tournaments to be played. The last five tournaments give players a chance to win their share of a big prize of $27,000. This series comprises just tournaments and does not have any extra features such as leader boards and so on.

In addition, WSOP.com will hold Double Me Up, a promotion that rewards players with double APPs for playing SnGs, cash games, and multi-table tournaments on September 27. The online poker room will also randomly select 19 players and reward them with 919 points each. Players need to have earned a minimum of one APP before the draw date in order to become eligible to earn points in this promotion. Players who wish to take part in the Double Me Up promotion also need to opt-in for it by clicking a link either on the website or in the email they received from WSOP.com.
Bill Rini, head of online poker for WSOP.com, said: “It has been a year full of excitement, with plenty of lessons learned. Most importantly for the game’s long-term health, the technology and the regulations have worked as intended. We have established a solid foundation for this recently-regulated digital form of entertainment in the US, and remain fully-committed and bullish on the long-term prospects of the business.”
On Friday, WSOP.com announced that Greg Merson, the champion of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2012 Main Event, has been officially selected as the company’s brand ambassador. Merson lives in New Jersey and plays at WSOP.com.
Referring to Merson as “a terrific ambassador for the game of poker,” Rini said that Merson is passionate about the game and will definitely help WSOP.com promote its poker offerings and make sure that the poker community gets an experienced voice to shape the brand as it moves forward.
PokerFuse.com has reported that Merson is going to do much more than just taking part in tournaments wearing WSOP branded clothes. The online poker room selected him as a brand ambassador because of his profound knowledge of the game.
