The newly launched World Series of Poker (WSOP) room, which forms part of Bally’s Wild Wild West Casino in Atlantic City, has 42 tables, an exclusive area for high-stakes poker players, and a huge space for tournament poker.

Ever since it launched late in February, the WSOP room has been fluid. Dan Morelli, the poker manager for Caesars’ properties in Atlantic City, said: “The traffic’s been pretty steady. We don’t go dark at all, and our weekend tournaments are starting to gain some traction.”

However, the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa’s live poker room remains the most popular in Atlantic City. For a long time, Borgata has held the biggest share of Atlantic City’s poker market. The Borgata live poker room is brilliant and huge. In addition, there is ample space for parking and a thriving food court.

In spite of the Borgata’s popularity, Caesars is optimistic and feels that it will attract more players to its poker tables. Fred Niceta, director for table games for Caesar’s properties in Atlantic City, said: “The Borgata has had a stranglehold on poker for forever. They’ve got a great facility there and competition is good. I think what we’re going after is some of their customers, but we want to make sure we get a hold of people who are already coming to the boardwalk.”

Caesars’ WSOP room is still in a stage of infancy, but its design is its biggest plus point. Huge black-and-white photographs of legendary poker players such as Stu Ungar and Doyle Brunson adorn its walls, greatly complementing the atmosphere of Wild Wild West Casino and strongly resembling an old gambling facility. Niceta said: “We’re very happy to call this the WSOP room, but it’s a different WSOP. You don’t see this anywhere else; you would see this in an old Jack Binion room.” He feels that the room’s popularity is going to increase in the summer.

Bally’s is going to host the National Circuit Championship 2014 at the new WSOP room from May 22 to May 24, and this event is bound to attract a large number of recreational and professional poker players. A freeroll satellite will also be held on May 19 for real money poker players at New Jersey, and a free seat to the $10,000 tournament will be awarded to the winner.

Currently, the WSOP room runs several lucrative cash game promotions, which includes opportunities to win complimentary points.
