A brand new series is coming for players in Pennsylvania, courtesy of WSOP PA. “WINter Wonderland” will run from December 5-21, offering $300,000 in guaranteed prize money spread across a total of 17 events. The series will also be awarding seats to the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) live festival which will take place at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas next summer.
WINter Wonderland is the sixth tournament series to be run by WSOP PA since it entered the Keystone state five months ago. The festival comes fresh off the heels of the Signature Series which took place at WSOP PA in November. It paid out more than $500,000 in prizes across nearly 40 events.
The month of December will once again be huge for PA players as they compete for over $300,000 in guaranteed prize money via WINter Wonderland. Not only that – they also get the chance to win seats into 2022’s most highly anticipated poker event – the 53rd WSOP.
The upcoming series features 17 events, played in different formats, including Deepstack, PKO, freezeout, and 6- and 8-handed. The buy-ins for these events range from $55 to $215. One tournament will run each day for 17 days, with additional prizes also up for grabs.
Extra cash will also be awarded throughout the festival and the giveaway starts right at the opening event where players can win $500 cash via random draw.
Players keen on securing a seat into various tournaments at the 2022 WSOP should consider taking part in the second event of WINter Wonderland, a PKO tournament that awards $1,000 worth of 2022 WSOP seats. They may also take a shot at the $10,000 GTD NLH PKO 8-max event which will run on December 15 where the top six players will receive $215 in tournament tickets.
On December 19, the biggest-guaranteed tournament of the series will take place and will award $100,000 in prizes, alongside tickets to the 2022 WSOP, each valued at $1,000. The event has a buy-in of $215.
WSOP PA is giving players the chance to win a seat into the 2022 WSOP Main Event for free through a freeroll tournament which takes place on December 27. To earn entry into that tournament, they only need to play five or more events at WINter Wonderland.
New Jersey and Nevada players are also expected to have their own version of WINter Wonderland, though WSOP.com has yet to make an official announcement. The site hosted a similar series back in 2016 for its New Jersey market.
2022 WSOP Just Around the Corner
The 2022 WSOP is set to run from May 31 to July 19, at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. The full schedule of the series is still being finalized and will be announced in January.
The WSOP ended its stay at the Rio on a high note, awarding 99 bracelets and $237.9 million in prize money during its final year at the Las Vegas casino. The series returned in 2021 after taking a break for more than two years due to the pandemic. Despite the odds, the 2021 festival was a massive success and went down in history as one of the biggest in WSOP history.
The festival will enter a new chapter next year as it moves to a new location at Bally’s and Paris, owned by Caesars Entertainment. The big event is just six months away and the excitement is building up for what would probably be another record-setting edition. Vince Vaughn will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, and players in PA will be part of that historic event.
