WSOP.com has been hosting major festivals since the COVID-19 lockdown in mid-March to answer the demand for top-notch tournament action and huge guarantees as poker players continue to be locked down and on home quarantine.
While 2020 is coming to a close, WSOP.com isn’t done with coming up with competitive and exciting tournament offerings for its players in the US. In fact, the online poker site has just launched another major festival called the Fall Online Championships Series, which boasts a guaranteed prize pool of over $1 million spread across two weeks of online action.
Main Event & Other Highlights
The series kicked off on November 8 and will run until November 22, with 37 different events to choose from, exclusive for players based in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware. The events feature buy-ins of between $30 and $1,000, and come in a variety of formats and structures, including No-Limit Hold’em, Turbo, Deepstack, 4-max, 6-max, and PLO.
The festival will culminate in the $525 buy-in Main Event, which features a guarantee of $175,000. The event will play out on the final day of the series (November 22) and is expected to once again exceed expectations. The winner will not only walk away with the largest slice of the prize pool, as they’ll also receive a special Champion’s Belt which will be mailed to them after the conclusion of the tournament.
Apart from the Main Event, the schedule also features a number of events offering decent prizes, including a couple of Sunday Special Edition events. Those who missed out on the first one, which took place on November 8, still have the chance to compete for at least $100,000 in guarantees for a buy-in of $320 on November 15.
Additionally, there are two events offering $12,500 in guarantees for a lower entry fee of $50, a Turbo Deepstack and a Monster Stack event, taking place on November 13 and 16 respectively. PLO players and fans may also enjoy their favorite format in a PLO 6-max tournament on November 19, which comes with a $10,000 guarantee, for a buy-in of only $50.
High rollers aren’t left out either, as they too can find an event that fits their bankroll. A $1,000 buy-in NLH High Roller takes place on November 17, guaranteeing $85,000, with a PLO High Roller event also running on November 22, featuring an entry fee of $500, and $30,000 in guaranteed prize pool.
WSOP.com Hosted 13 Series So Far in 2020
The Fall Online Championships Series is WSOP.com’s 13th series in 2020. Given that online poker rooms are traditionally busy during the holiday season, expect that number to increase with the announcement of at least one more festival.
WSOP.com welcomed 2020 with the New Year Kickoff Series, which awarded $400,000 in total guarantees. It was then followed by the Winter Online Championships which gave away $1.5 million in total prize money. And then there’s the Online Circuit Series and the Online Super Circuit Series, awarding more than $2 million in combined guarantees, which was later followed by the huge $4,000,000 GTD Spring Online Championships.
WSOP.com opened the summer with the $4,000,000 GTD Money May Series, and also hosted the Online Finale Circuit Series which came with a $1.5 million guarantee. After that, the site hosted six more major festivals, namely the Online Championships ($6M GTD), August Summer Series ($3M GTD), 50th Anniversary Series ($3M GTD), Fall Online Circuit Series ($1M GTD), PLO Mania Tournament Series ($300K GTD), and now the Fall Online Championships Series.
Back in July, WSOP.com also played host to the US leg of the first ever WSOP Online Bracelet Series, which ended up awarding nearly $27 million in total prize pool across 31 bracelet events. It currently holds the record for the biggest series ever held in the regulated US markets.
