The World Poker Tour (WPT) and the partypoker US Network are teaming up once again for another major tournament series exclusive for the New Jersey network of online poker players. The first-ever WPT Online Borgata Series is a week-long festival running from September 13 – 21, offering over $275,000 in guaranteed prize pool.
The series features buy-ins suitable for all bankrolls, with qualifiers and satellites that will give players the chance to enter key events for a more affordable price. It follows on the heels of the hugely successful WPT Online Poker Open which also took place on the partypoker US Network in June.
The Action Continues
With COVID-19 still posing a serious threat to everyone’s health and safety, players itching to return to the live felts will have to wait a little longer before they can take part in live action.
Fans of the popular Borgata Poker Open which usually features a fall schedule, will miss the competition this year due to ongoing restrictions caused by the pandemic. But organizers have found a way to continue the action by bringing some of the best elements of the live tournaments into the WPT Online Borgata Series.
WPT Executive Director Matt Savage said they wanted players to feel like playing in a live tournament series at Borgata by incorporating the same structures, main event satellites, and quality side events in a single online series. VP for Global Tour Management Angelica Hael added that the inaugural event provides players with equal opportunities to win big while enjoying the best assets of the live and online arena.
WPT Online Borgata Series Highlights
The main attraction of the WPT Online Borgata Series is the Main Event which takes place on September 20-21. The two-day event comes with a buy-in of $1,060, and features a livestreamed final table. There are no further details released yet on this key event, but it is expected to attract a huge field, alongside other key events on the schedule such as the $100,000 GTD opening event on Sunday, September 13, and the $535 Heads Up event scheduled for September 19.
The Heads Up event includes a promo for those who are able to register by Wednesday, September 16 – they will receive $35 of their registration fee back after competing in the event. You better sign up by Wednesday to take advantage of this special bonus.
Meanwhile, if you are concerned about not being able to take part in the Main Event because of your limited bankroll, worry no more, as you can still enter into the event for a much cheaper price via qualifiers and satellites.
Each day, qualifiers worth just $5 will run on partypoker, which will give you the chance to win your way into $45 and $215 satellites. These satellites will then lead you to the $1,060 Main Event. If satellites aren’t for you, you can enter via a phased buy-in of $109, and if you’re able to survive, you’ll bring your chip stack with you through to the Main Event.
The series will only accommodate players physically based in New Jersey at the time of the tournament. You can be play this series on NJ.Partypoker.com, BorgataPoker.com, and BetMGMPoker.com.
Ray Stefanelli, Director of Poker for partypoker US Network, said they remain committed to providing players with the best online poker experience. In line with that commitment, they’ll continue to work with entities and brands that share a common goal and passion for bringing high-qualify offerings. Stefanelli said their partnership with the WPT has brought to life exciting tournaments that combine the prestige of both brands’ live and online products.
