Ever since it stopped at Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, the World Poker Tour (WPT) Alpha8 hasn’t stopped at any place. But recently the WPT announced that the WPT Alpha8 will stop at the Bellagio in Las Vegas in December, when the Five Diamond World Poker Classic is being played.
The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic will be played from December 4 to December 19. Its schedule includes 19 tournaments, including the $10,400 main event and the televised $100k WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas.
Adam Pliska, the president of the WPT, said: “World Poker Tour is proud to return to Bellagio, home to our very first televised event, for the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic and WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas. Coupling these two marquee events during Season XIII produced tremendous results, with the combined prize pool exceeding $11 million and three players earning more than $1 million. All of the action in both tournaments will be captured by the WPT cameras, and we look forward to crowning two new champions at the epicenter of poker this December.”
Last year, it was poker pro Mohsin Charania who beat a field of 586 players, won the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event, and took home an enormous prize of $1,477,890. And it was Andrew Lichtenberger who beat Tom Marchese to win the first-place prize of $2,104,245 in the WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas, an event that attracted 55 participants and generated a prize pool of as much as $5.4 million.
Players can register for the WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas till the beginning of Level 7. The event also permits players to re-enter an unlimited number of times.
Registration for WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas will be open until the start of Level 7, and players are allowed unlimited re-entries.
Craig Lumpp, the Bellagio’s poker operations director, said that the Bellagio is happy to host the WPT Alpha8 and the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic once again. Expressing his opinion of the event, he said that it is “rich in tradition” and all serious poker players want to be part of it. He said that the Bellagio is happy and excited about hosting the greatest poker players in the world and the high-stakes poker action that makes the Strip an exciting place to be in.
The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic starts with a $1000 buy-in NL Hold’em tournament at noon on December 4.
