The World Poker Tour (WPT) recently announced that it was venturing into the online poker training market with the launch of LearnWPT.com. The global poker market which includes both live poker and online poker has been growing at a rapid pace and poker companies are looking at attracting a new demographic of first time poker players.

The WPT is looking at targeting these fresh players by offering online poker lessons for beginners. The company believes that most online poker training providers out there currently offer poker lessons to experienced poker players and there is not enough quality content out there assisting amateur poker players.

Most online poker training websites hire experienced poker players who record or stream their online poker sessions and provide a breakdown of their poker playing strategy. These videos are usually sent to subscribers who sign up for a membership plan. Poker sites such as IveyPoker, Gripsed Poker and RunitOnce are some of the online poker training sites that offer membership training plans.

The LearnWPT website will revolve around video tutorials but will also include a number of other features that will provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to beginners. The WPT has enlisted the services of Nick Binger who will serve as the chief instructor of LearnWPT. Nice has won more than $2.3 million in live poker tournaments including a WSOP bracelet in 2011.

In a statement, Binger said “I love teaching poker. I’ve been doing it for seven years now, and it’s become so important to me that I wanted to find a way to make learning poker easier. I want to share my love and passion for this game with the world, and partnering with the World Poker Tour allows LearnWPT.com to leverage the vast archive of televised and live-streamed WPT content in addition to the WPT’s impressive global footprint.”

Some of the options available to beginners at the LearnWPT.com website include a winning blueprint that pushes players to improve their game in 30 days, ‘ask a pro’ which gives you access to a poker pro so that you can get feedback on your poker strategy or performance, two weekly video episodes, functional strategies to help you master the game and access to a professional teacher who will coach and help players with their weaknesses.

The LearnWPT website also offers two free strategy episodes to give players an idea of what they can expect if they sign up for the coaching program.
