The Women in Poker Hall of Fame, an institution that recognizes, appreciates, and rewards women poker players who played an important role in the development and growth of the poker gaming industry, inducts new members every year. The institution uses strict procedures to select players for its Hall of Fame and has already announced the names of 10 nominees, all of who are prominent female poker players and women who played significant roles in the development of the industry.

Votes will be cast till June 20, and the institution will hold a special induction ceremony at a dinner arranged on Aug 31, 2012 in the Golden Nugget, which is located in Las Vegas. Some of the nominees, whose names were recently announced, are Debbie Burkhead, who is the director (sales) for Poker Player Newspaper and a great poker player; Victoria Coren, the winner of the European Champion of Poker of 2006; and Annie Duke, who won a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet and currently teaches poker strategies and writes poker books.

The institution also announced the name of Dabra Giardina, who did a lot of work for the progress of the online poker industry in Jacksonville. The other female poker players in the list of nominees include Jjliu, who has nine WSOP cashes as well as many other poker awards to her credit; Isabel Mercier, who emerged as the champion of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Ladies Night and played an important role in the launching of an online poker website in France; and Cathy Raymond, one of the most well-known poker players in Foxwood Casino, which is located in Connecticut, USA and the creator of Four Queens Poker Classic and Leinhos Classix Desert Poker.

Launched by Ladies International Poker Series, the Women in Poker Hall of Fame focuses on honoring poker women who have achieved great success in poker gaming and have contributed tremendously to the poker gaming industry. The institution has inducted into the Hall of Fame excellent poker women such as Margie Heintz, Phyllis Caro, Kristy Gazes, Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert, Billie Brown, and others so far.
