After internet poker, online sports’ betting may be the next gaming sector to be targeted by the feds as it would seem that US officials are keen to take up a fight with offshore gambling companies. The DoJ has already indicted Bookmaker.com, which is one of the best online sportsbooks, they also hit Doyles Room which is a great poker site and is known for its affiliation with Doyle Brunson a great poker player, along with the seizure of eight other sites. Doyles Room has been in trouble ever since Doyle quit on them after the Black Friday shutdown.

The US authorities followed a different trail this time around, and it was evident that they had been working on this seizure for a long time. The feds processed and transacted around $33 million with these US poker sites for which they have records, and they did all of this disguised as a payment processor named Linwood Payment Solutions that was exclusively set up for this purpose.

The US poker companies along with their domain names bought the fact that Linwood was a legitimate payment processor and dealt with them for more than two years. Finally they got caught, since the feds had gathered enough evidence against them through Linwood.

Informant names for the above mentioned operation have been popping up over the web, and one of them is Michael Garone, the man who was accused of money laundering on behalf of Bodog in the year 2008. It remains a mystery as to how Bodog, which has been classified as and accused of the same charges as all the other sites, is still functional under the domain name Bodog.eu and they are also accepting American players.

All this sounds sceptical, but it is the truth, and since Bodog knows how the feds function, they are ready for a shutdown anytime, although they refuse to comment on the matter.

Bookmaker has also worked out some kind of an agreement since they are now functional under the name bmaker.org that accepts American players.

Overall, it is the players who take a hit, and hence they have to be more careful regarding their online accounts. It is best to cash out while you can, and not trust any VeriSign or Visa signatures that assure security of any kind, since most online sites on the web are now under threat.
