The UK poker market continues to grow with every passing year and 2020 could be its biggest year yet! A number of top poker operators are set to host exciting events throughout the next 12 months and UK poker players will have a chance to win exciting amounts of cash.
We look at two of the most popular poker operators in the UK and the line-up of poker events they have scheduled throughout 2020.
Grosvenor UK Poker Tour
The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) is one of the most popular poker tours in the UK. The GUKPT will launch its 14^th season next year and the schedule is very similar to the 2019 edition but for a couple of changes. The 2019 edition saw Luton as the 4^th stop and London as the 5^th. For 2020, the schedule has been switched as London will now be the 4^th stop followed by Luton.
UK poker players can kick of the New Year with a GUKPT stop in London which runs from Jan 23 to Feb 2. The tournament will take place at Grosvenor Casino Victoria in the Poker Room. The GUKPT will then head to Manchester in February and make a stop at the Grosvenor Casino Bury New Road from Feb 23 to March 1. The first quarter will finish with a third stop scheduled to take place at the Grosvenor Casino Edinburgh from March 22 to 29.
The fourth stop as we stated above will once again take place in London at the Poker Room in Grosvenor Casino Victoria from May 17 to 24 before moving over to Luton for the 5^th stop at the Grosvenor Casino Luton from July 5 to 12. There is no poker action from the GUKPT in August.
The next stop will be in Leeds during September at the Grosvenor Casino Westgate. The poker tournament will take place from Sep 6 to 13. The GUKPT then heads back to Luton in October for another stop at the Grosvenor Casino Luton from October 4 to 11. The second last tour of the tour will be held in Blackpool at the Grosvenor Casino Blackpool from November 1 to 8. The final leg of the tour will conclude in London and take place from Nov 21 to Dec 6 at the Grosvenor Casino Victoria.
One of the highlights of the GUKPT tour will be ‘The Goliath’ event which should have a minimum of £500,000 in guaranteed prize money and take place from July 29 to August 9. The 2019 Goliath edition saw a massive player pool with 7,583 registrations and the 2020 edition should surpass these numbers.
Unibet UK Poker Tour
Unibet is another poker operator that is continuing to improve its brand presence in the UK and is expecting to have a strong year in 2020. The Unibet UK Poker Tour for 2020 has a total of 4 stops spread across the year.
The first stop will be in London and take place at the Aspers Stratford from March 5 to 8. There is a £220 buy-in to this event and a guaranteed prize pool of £50,000. The tour then moves over to Newcastle in May and stops at Aspers Newcastle. Once again there is a £220 buy-in and a £50,000 prize pool up for grabs. The Unibet UK tour then takes a break for 3 months before returning in September to London. This stop will also take place at Aspers Stratford from September 24 to 27 and will have a £220 buy-in and a £50,000 prize pool waiting to be won.
The final stop will also be in London at Aspers Stratford from December 9 to 13. The buy-in for this event is £440 and a prize pool of £100,000 is guaranteed. Unibet will be holding a number of online satellites to enable players to qualify for these events at a fraction of the buy-in.
