The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is organizing a major online event in partnership with GGPoker! The first-ever WSOP Super Circuit Online Series will hit the virtual felts in early May and will run for three long weeks, featuring an exciting line-up of events.
18 Circuit Rings Up For Grabs
Initial details of the mega series were announced via a press release on April 15, with both the WSOP and GGPoker expressing their thrill in bringing the mega event to thousands of poker players and fans who are currently on home quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Commenting on the new partnership, WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart commended GGPoker for being passionately committed to promoting poker all around the globe, and while he expressed his regret about having to cancel several land-based WSOP Circuit events scheduled for Spring due to the ongoing global health crisis, Stewart is hopeful the upcoming online series will surpass expectations and outperform the prize pools of the cancelled events.
GGPoker is also equally excited about the fresh tie-up between two global organizations who have a similar goal. Company head Jean-Christophe Antoine said they are stoked for this big event, which will give GGPoker players the opportunity to win one of poker’s highly-coveted accolades, a WSOP Circuit ring!
A total of 18 WSOP Circuit rings will be given away throughout the festival.
The full schedule and complete details of the upcoming mega series are still being finalized and will be released soon, but according to the initial announcement, the winner of the Main Event, as well as the player ending up as the overall series points leader, will each receive an invitation to the $1,000,000 freeroll WSOP Global Casino Championship bracelet event.
Not Open To U.S Players
The WSOP Super Circuit Online Series will not be available to US players. It can only be played in countries and territories where online poker is allowed, such as Canada and the UK.
GGPoker is also not accepting players from other selected countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Bahrain, Curacao, Cuba, Jordan and Iran. Those based in Israel, Kuwait, Norfolk Island, North Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Tunisia are also not allowed to play at GGPoker. Visit their website for the complete list of restricted countries.
GGPoker Gets New Ambassador
GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu also could not hide his excitement about the brand-new online event, and took to Twitter to talk about the good news. But not only that, the Poker Hall of famer also revealed that another member has been added to Team GGPoker. He issued a challenge for fans to guess the identity of the latest GGPoker ambassador, and the first person to get it right wins a ticket into the $500K-guaranteed GGMasters.
GGPoker runs as part of the GGNetwork – one of the world’s largest global poker network which was launched in 2014. It originally catered to customers in Asia, but has now expanded its operations into other regions, including Canada and Europe.
Apart from Negreanu, GGPoker’s list of ambassadors also includes two-time WSOP bracelet winner and WPT/EPT champ Bertrand “ElkY” Gospellier, top-ranked Brazilian poker pro Felipe “Mojave” Ramos, and current All-Time Money List leader Bryn Kenney.
GGPoker also has a Twitch Partners Team, made up of top streamers such as George Davidson, Tudor Stefan, Michael Van Elsacker, Christian Dressler, and Scott Kenyon.
As of April 17, GGPoker is currently ranked 4th in Pokerscout’s worldwide online poker sites traffic report, just ahead of partypoker.
The WSOP is a premier poker brand, with a strong presence all around the globe. It is responsible for organizing some of the biggest and most prestigious poker festivals in the world. Its flagship series is now on its 51st year, and is set to return to the Rio in Las Vegas from May 26 – July 15. However, there is strong possibility that the festival will be cancelled or postponed because of the ongoing global pandemic.
