Tonybet Poker has been offering open-face Chinese (OFC) poker for the last couple of years and has slowly started to build a strong base of players who love the OFC format. The Tonybet poker room was founded by Lithuania’s Antanas Guoga who is now a member of the EU Parliament. Guoga was a businessman and a professional poker player.
Tonybet is currently focusing its attention on preparing for its second Open-Face Chinese Poker World Championship which is scheduled to start on the 6th to the 8th of December 2015. The second edition of the OFC World Cup will once again take place at the Corinthia Hotel’s King’s Casino and is expected to be the biggest live OFC event to have ever taken place.
The first OFC World Cup was won by Jennifer Shahade, who is a professional chess poker player and minds sports ambassador for PokerStars. Shahade created OFC history when she won the €10,000 High Roller live event and took home a cash prize of €218,500.
The 2015 Tonybet Poker OFC World Championship will comprise of the following events. The first event will be the Tonybet OFC Progressive Pineapple Event which has a buy-in for €350; the second event will be the Tonybet OFC High Roller (Rebuy) for €10,000 and the third event will be the Last Minute Satellite to OFC Main Event for €120.
Players who live in countries that allow access to the Tonybet Poker website can play the satellite events to see if they can win entry into the progressive pineapple event or the Main Event.
In a statement, Warren Lush, Tonybet representative said “The launch of our in-house-built, rake-free six-max Texas hold’em and pot-limit Omaha cash games has been on our agenda for a while now and we didn’t want to wait any longer. We remain the world’s leading open-face Chinese poker site, but now with the addition of new cash games give our players the chance to play no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha on our site instead of searching for them somewhere else.”
Tonybet has also introduced a couple of other variants in pot-limit Omaha cash games and rake-free six-handed Texas hold’em to give players more variety. The website is looking to build a bigger player database and compete with some of the other online poker websites in the market and believe their new rake free games will bring in a steady flow of online poker traffic as the new promotion gains momentum.
