PartyPoker‘s Antanas “Tony G” Guoga has made an interesting offer to arguably the world’s most intriguing poker player, Sweden’s Isildur1.  Reaching out to the ultra-high stakes player via his blog on, Tony G has expressed his desire to stake Isildur1 for live play.
Specifically, Tony G wants to fly Isildur1 out to London, pay for his accommodations, and stake him for the 48-hour Big Game IV.  Matchroom Sport, the company that produced the Premier League Poker IV, is also producing the high stakes cash game, which will be televised in Europe later in the year.
“I know Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport has been in touch and I can truly say you will be amongst friends if you come over,” Tony G wrote.  “If you don’t want to reveal your true identity you don’t have to – Eddie says you can wear a mask or whatever you choose to disguise yourself.”
“Perhaps you can wear my Kermit the Frog outfit from the Premier League?”
But while Tony G spreads the honey on thick, his goal is still ultimately to win his money right back from Isildur1.  He concludes his blog with, “Let me make one thing clear though. If I stake you I still want to crush you and make you bleed from the mask… and I will!”
Part of Isildur1’s popularity is not just the fact that he plays at the nosebleed stakes tables, but also that his bankroll swings are so extreme.  Win or lose, he is a spectacle.  According to the online poker results tracking site (PTR), the Swede has lost over $2.4 million since he appeared on the scene on September 16th, 2009.  His winnings reached as high as $5 million on November 15th and his losses bottomed out at almost $2.8 million on February 8th of this year.  On any given day, he can have fluctuations of million of dollars, as evidenced by the fact that he has lost as much as $2.8 million in a single day and won as much as $1.8 million.
Interestingly, Isildur1 has had his most success against the man many consider to be the best online player in the world, Full Tilt Poker‘s Tom “durrrr” Dwan.  PTR has tracked over 51,000 hands between the two and Isildur1 is up more than $4.5 million on Dwan.  He has also won more than $1.1 million against both PowerPoker’s Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and instructor Cole South.  On the downside, South’s fellow CardRunner’s instructor Brian Hastings has taken almost $4.4 million from Isildur1, Mr. All-World Phil Ivey has won close to $2.9 million against him, and Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond has profited over $2.5 million from Isildur1.
The Big Game IV is a two-day long cash game which will be held at Les Ambassadeurs Club in Mayfair in London from April 11th through April 13th.  Tony G will obviously be there, as will Luke “_FullFlush_” Schwartz, Neil Channing, Phil Laak, Isaac Haxton, Jennifer Tilly, and others who have yet to be announced.  Every two hours, the eight players at the table will vote for one of the group to be banished from the table and be replaced by another player.  In 2008, 21 players participated in the Big Game III, most starting with $20,000 chip stacks.  The big winners were Andrew Feldman and Robert Williamson III, who each profited over $63,000.
There is no word yet either from Isildur1 or Tony G on whether or not the online enigma will accept the offer.  Then again, if someone does play wearing a mask, how will anyone know if it is Isildur1, anyway?
