Australasia’s best poker players will meet at Sky City Casino in Auckland this week to play for their share of a prize pool as large as $200,000. The Auckland casino is scheduled to host New Zealand’s biggest poker tournament.

Sky City Casino is running a special promotion called Festival of Poker (FOP), which will last for 9 days and will end in a $2,200 Main Event. As many as 200 professional poker players are expected to take part in this tournament.

During the past four years, four Kiwi players had won the FOP Main Event championship title. These four winners are Daniel Craker, who won $257,040; Simon Watt, winner of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet, who won $209,000; Danny Brotha D’ Leaoasavaii, who won $170,000; and Geoff Smith, who won $80,502.

The Festival of Poker attracts top poker players from different parts of the world. This time, Brian Huang, a PokerStars pro who has won more than $600,000 playing live poker tournaments, will take part in the event.

Among the events will be a NL Hold’em Turbo tournament, an NL Hold’em Ladies tournament, a PL Omaha 8 Handed tournament, and a NL Hold’em Deep Stack tournament. The highlight of the event will be the PokerStars.net NZPT Sky City Festival of Poker Main Event.
