Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open to Begin on July 30

Hollywood’s Seminole Hard Rock launched a brand new live poker tournament with a guaranteed prize of $10 million two years back. That year, the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) attracted a field of 2,384 players who generated a massive prize pool of $11.92 million. It was Blair Hinkle who emerged as the champion after defeating Justin Bonomo and bagged the first-place prize of $1,745,245.
Right at the beginning, SHRPO proved itself as one of the biggest events in the poker calendar. However, the event was unable to generate the required guaranteed in its second edition. There was a huge overlay of $2.5 million, but this hasn’t stopped the organizers from announcing the third edition. This time, however, there are going to be changes to avoid overlays.

The SHRPO 2015 will be played from July 30 to August 19, but the organizers haven’t announced any schedule. What they did announce was that the Main Event, which will have a buy-in of $5,250, will be a freezeout, guaranteeing a prize of $5 million. This means that players cannot re-enter. Moreover, the event will have only one starting flight.
The event, which will be broadcast early in 2016 on CBS Sports Network, will have a unique feature—a four-event grand finale, the first of its kind in the game’s history. The final table action of four events—the $25k High Roller, the Main Event, a $1,100 side event, and a $2,500 side event—will be streamed live at the same time on August 18, Tuesday with Phil Hellmuth as the host.
Larry Frank, the general manager (poker operations) of Seminole Gaming, said: “The 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open will elevate the poker experience to a new level. The Championship single-entry structure will provide a unique opportunity for players to compete for their share of the $5 million guarantee. Plus, the chance to be part of the finale that showcases four final tables at the same time heightens the energy and excitement of this year’s series.”
In July, on-site registration will be thrown open. Meanwhile, satellites will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, the Seminole Casino Immokalee, and the Seminole Casino Brighton.
The Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) will be part of the SHRPO as usual. It will have a buy-in of $300, half of which will be donated.
