According to a recent announcement, British professional poker player Sam Trickett and Matchbook.com have mutually decided to part ways and bring an end to their sponsorship deal.
Matchbook.com had sponsored a group of excellent professional poker players, of who Sam Trickett was one of the best. Trickett finished second at the Big One for One Drop Poker Tournament, a charity poker event with a massive buy-in of $1 million. While playing this tournament, he wore clothes bearing the Matchbook.com brand mark. Moreover, Trickett is well on his way to becoming the number-one cash poker winner in Europe.
Speaking about the break up between Sam Trickett and Matchbook.com, a spokesperson for Matchbook.com said, “We have long believed that Sam is one of the best poker players in the world, and his success over the last two years is well deserved. We have been honoured to have Sam as the face of the Matchbook Poker team in which his results were nothing short of phenomenal. Sam is a huge asset for any brand, and we fully expect him to secure a sponsorship deal with one of the biggest dedicated poker sites around.”
Voicing his opinion about the break up, Trickett said, “I’m extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to compete in the biggest tournament in this history of poker and it was an experience that will live for me forever.”
Matchbook.com is a betting exchange that offers a wide range of poker markets at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). The brand has always wanted to advertise its products and services in the poker gaming community. According to a Matchbook spokesperson, Matchbook’s sponsorship deal with Trickett had as its target the mega $1 million buy-in poker charity event, the Big One for One Drop tournament. Expressing Matchbook’s interest in poker and its intention to continue providing a wide range of poker markets, including immensely popular European and international poker events, he said that Matchbook now wants to concentrate on its sports betting sector.
Matchbook.com has also produced a documentary on Sam Trickett’s performance in the Big One for One Drop tournament with a special focus on his remarkable rise to the pinnacles of poker success. Trickett, who had also joined Matchbook.com in creating this documentary, said that he is looking forward to seeing it.
This documentary will be shown by the UK-based national TV and an online version of it will shortly be released.
