Players and fans of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) thought they would miss out on the 2020 WSOP because of the ongoing issues with the corona virus. However, the WSOP did confirm that it will host an online bracelet series that will take place over the next two months, on WSOP.com and GGPoker. This comes after the traditional live event, which was originally scheduled to take place this summer, was postponed due to the coronavirus lockdown.
A total of 85 online bracelets will be given away in what will become one of the largest online series in poker history.
The first of these online bracelet events will run on WSOP.com throughout the month of July. If you wish to participate in the upcoming online festival, take note of the important steps outlined below, with a guide on what to do in the event of registration issues and connection problems.
Setting Up An Account
Taking part in the online bracelet series requires you to sign up for an account with WSOP.com. You can do this by downloading the client. But first, be aware of the technical specifications needed – if you’re using desktop, your OS must at least be Windows 7, or Mac OS X 10.6.8).
If you’re downloading the mobile version, it should run smoothly on both Android and iOS, but there are games and tournaments that can be played only on a desktop computer, such as PLOs.
Account & Identity Verification
After successfully downloading the WSOP.com client, you are now ready to create an account and undergo verification. The key information that you need to provide are your username, password, as well as your telephone/cellphone number with area code which the client will use in making sure that you’re currently based within state borders.
This is because the online bracelet events running on WSOP.com will only be available to players physically located in Nevada and New Jersey. Unfortunately, those in Delaware will be prohibited from participating in the online action. The registration process will also require a social security number to verify your identity.
If you are unable to pass the initial verification process, you will be asked to provide secondary documents so you can successfully register for a real money account. Also, it is important to enable Wi-Fi on your device so WSOP.com can determine where you are actually located.
If you are playing from a house or a hotel with shared internet IP address, you might stumble upon an error message barring you from joining the tournament because of having the same IP address as another player.
To avoid this error, you can establish a connection via hotspot on your cellphone. Upon connecting, you can now use the shared internet to play. There will be expected connection interruptions, but they apply only when you log-in.
You don’t have to worry about this if you’re in Nevada as Caesars’ IPs have already been whitelisted for the online bracelet series. Regulators in New Jersey regulators have yet to do the same.
Deposits & Withdrawals
Doing real money transactions using your WSOP.com account is simple. You simply need to log in and click on CASHIER. You can deposit and withdraw using different methods (like e-Check ACH, PayPal and Cash at Casino Cage), select your preferred method, enter the amount alongside your account details and choose Deposit/Withdraw. Deposit limits apply for each method.
Other Issues
If you are having connection issues while registering with WSOP.com, it may be caused by a Firewall or Proxy server enabled in your computer, or just internet problems which should be resolved by your internet provider.
When it comes to concerns regarding the use of multiple accounts, the WSOP has assured everyone that they are fully equipped with the adequate sophisticated resources to detect ghosting and other fraudulent activity.
If you win a bracelet, a WSOP representative will reach out to you within 48 hours after the end of the tournament. The online festival also schedules a weekly online bracelet ceremony, but the actual physical bracelet will be mailed to the winner’s registered address. The full schedule of the online festival is available on WSOP.com.
