PokerStars is giving players around the world a chance to win some fantastic prizes over the holidays with its popular Winter Series. Players are in for plenty of action this winter as the online poker site released details of its winter-themed tournament series running from December to January.
The Winter Series is an addition to PokerStars’ jam-packed regular schedule this holiday season. It will have four different versions – a Worldwide Winter Series, a European version, as well as a Winter Series in New Jersey and India.
Worldwide Winter Series Puts $40 Million Up For Grabs
The Worldwide Winter Series is the biggest of all the series, offering $40 million in total guaranteed prize pools. The series will run on the worldwide PokerStars network from December 23 to January 7 and will feature as many as 60 events. It is not just $40 million on the line as the online poker giant has another $45 million in prizes as part of the regular PokerStars schedule.
There will be a Micro, Low, Medium and High event for each of the 60 Winter Series events, bringing the total number of events to 240. Poker players from all backgrounds will get the chance to take part, with buy-ins ranging from $0.55 to $5,200.
Satellite Events
PokerStars is looking to attract as many players as possible as it will also run a number of satellite events throughout the 16-day festival. Satellite winners will be awarded Winter Series tickets for a lesser price. More tickets and cash prizes will also be given away through $2.50 and $20 Spin and Go’s.
Winter Series will have not just one, but four Main Events running on January 6, with each offering huge prize pools for low buy-ins. The Main Events will be classified as Micro, Low, Medium and High.
The Micro Main Event has very low buy-in of just $2.20 buy-in with a $100,000 guarantee. The guaranteed prize pools increase to a massive $750,000 in the Low Main Event which has a $22 buy-in. Both the $215 buy-in Medium Event and the $2,100 buy-in High Main Events will each award a whopping $1,500,000 guarantee.
High-stakes players will not be left out as two $5,200 High Roller events will run from December 26 and January 2, with at least $500,000 in total guaranteed prize pool up for grabs for each event.
Among the highlights from the regular PokerStars schedule are two Sunday Million tournaments each offering $1 million in total prize pools, with a buy-in of $215. More High Roller tournaments will also take place outside of the Winter Series schedule.
The low buy-ins are purposely set so that players of all bankrolls will have the opportunity to take part in the Winter Series and get to start their 2019 with a bang.
Record-Breaking Europe Winter Series
PokerStars is also hosting a European version of the Winter Series which will take place on the shared PokerStars Europe client from Dec 25 to Jan 17. The festival will feature 297 events and will cater to players from Portugal, Spain and France. Players from other European countries can also take part provided they are permitted to register for an online account from their country.
Players can choose from buy-ins ranging from €2 to €250. More than €20 million in total prizes will be given away to the winners. This huge amount is a record-high for PokerStars Europe, with its massive €2 million Winter Series Main Event guarantee also topping any other previous prize pool.
Two huge tournaments – the €250 Winter event and the €100 New Year Special – will also run simultaneously with the Winter Series on the PokerStars Europe client. The events will feature a €500,000 and €300,000 guarantee respectively.
Winter Series in India and New Jersey
Indian players should be excited as well as PokerStars India will be running its own Winter Series runs from Dec 16-24, with 14,800,000 rupees up for grabs during this time. The Main Event features a guarantee of 3,500,000 rupees, with a buy-in of 7,700 rupees and takes place on December 23.
PokerStars is currently operating in only one state in America and this gives New Jersey players an opportunity to cash in on the Winter Series action as PokerStars will bring the Winter series to their own ring-fenced New Jersey client from Jan 14-21. A 12-event Winter Series is in store for players, with a total prize pool of $325,000 spread across this seven day period.
