PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world has dominated the global poker market for close to a decade even though the company has changed hands during the past few years. Canadian based Amaya Inc currently owns the company after acquiring it from the Rational Group in 2014. PokerStars recently won the ‘Poker Operator of the Year’ award for the third consecutive year at the recently held EGR Operator Awards 2016 which took place in London, England.

The EGR Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in the gaming industry and recognizes the excellence of gaming providers in the e-gaming industry. The eGaming Review Magazine and EGRmagazine.com are considered by many in the gaming community to be one of the top online gaming magazines in the industry. The company is owned by Pageant Gaming Media Limited.

PokerStars and its parent company Amaya Inc were nominated for five EGR awards. Amaya was nominated for the Operator of the Year, the Customer Service Operator of the Year and the Socially Responsible Operator of the Year while PokerStars was nominated for the Poker Operator of the Year award and PokerStars Casino was nominated for the Casino Operator of the Year.

Some of the other operators who won EGR awards include Unibet who won the Operator of the Year award; Paddy Power Betfair which received the casino operator of the year award; Aconcagua Poker received the mobile poker product award; Pinnacle for the eSports Operator award and Betsson for the Customer Services Operator award.

Some of the other EGR Awards given away include the Mobile Sports Product award which went to Sky Betting & Gaming; Marketing Campaign award which went to Unibet; Sports Betting Operator award which was awarded to bet365;  Socially Responsible Operator of the year award which went to Unibet; Game of the Year award which went to Guns N’ Roses (NetEnt) and the Rising Star award which was given to Hero Gaming.
