PokerStars will sponsor their first ever Blackjack tournament which will have a $100,000 guarantee and take place on the 8th of January 2016 and have a $500 buy-in. The Blackjack event will take place at the Atlantis Casino and PokerStars expects a high number of registrations for this event. The PCA is expected to bring in some of the best poker players from Latin America and North America including the likes of Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Chris Moneymaker, Andre Akkari and Jason Mercier.

In a statement, Edgar Stuchly, PokerStars Director of Live Events said “We are very excited to host our first ever live blackjack tournament. Blackjack players are used to pitting themselves against the house, but they will now be able to pit themselves against other players in a $100,000 guaranteed blackjack tournament.”

The $100k Blackjack event will be based on a shootout format and PokerStars has decided to keep the ceiling to a maximum of 216 Blackjack players. The rules of the game will allow six players to compete for fifteen Blackjack hands for each table and the player who has the most number of chips at the end of the round will be moved to the next round of the event. There will be a maximum of three rounds and the eventual winner will walk away with a nice chunk of cash.

Ever since Amaya Inc acquired PokerStars there has been a significant strange in strategy and PokerStars is no longer restricting its business to the online poker industry but is looking to diversify into casino games and sports betting. The fact that PokerStars is now sponsoring a $100k Blackjack event is further proof that the online poker giant will continue to experiment with new promotions in 2016 as it looks to increase its player database and bring in more revenue.
