Online poker players can expect a new live poker product at PokerStars in 2013 because the online poker room has invested in Hippodrome Casino, which is based in London. While Hippodrome Casino would serve as a base for PokerStars’ live poker product, PokerStars will provide online poker at an online casino that Hippodrome plans to launch in the near future.

PokerStars Group Strategy Director Guy Templar said, “The Hippodrome has dramatically raised the quality bar for the UK casino industry. So together we will give poker players the same great poker experience, live 24/7 in the heart of London that they get from PokerStars online. We are looking forward to unveiling some great new live events for the UK poker market in 2013.”

Microgaming recently confirmed that it has partnered with Hippodrome, and according to the partnership terms, it will provide online casino software to Hippodrome. Roger Raatgever, chief executive officer at Mirogaming said, “Microgaming is proud to have been selected as the exclusive provider of online gaming software to the iconic London brand The Hippodrome. The convergence of offline and online gaming is a trend that Microgaming has been at the forefront of for some time now and we are delighted to be able to provide a bespoke online casino to The Hippodrome, giving their players a first class cross-platform gaming experience.”

According to the terms of the latest deal signed between the world’s largest online poker room and the largest casino in the UK, PokerStars will soon have its own live poker room in Central London, which will bear its brand. Hippodrome’s existing poker room will be renovated and upgraded for this purpose.

PokerStars will host a wide range of live poker events and sponsored poker tournaments in its brand new room in London. Poker enthusiasts can look forward to the first PokerStars live poker tournament schedule early in 2013, enabling its 50 million online poker players to take part in live poker tournaments from the comforts of home.

According to Eric Hollreiser, head (corporate communications) for PokerStars, PokerStars have also invested in the Hippodrome as part of the above-mentioned partnership deal.

PokerStars had also signed a partnership deal with Macau Casino Grand Waldo in the recent past. Usually, the online poker company does not associate with live gambling and land casino companies, and so far, it has not gotten involved with any other form of online gaming except online poker.
