PokerStars, the world’s biggest online poker room, has announced that it will celebrate the 100th European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona with a poker festival, which will have 43 exciting events.
The poker festival that PokerStars had held a year back to begin the EPT’s tenth season turned out to be a roaring success. This has encouraged the online poker operator to celebrate the 200th EPT similarly in Barcelona, right at the beginning of the 11th season.
PokerStars issued a press release recently, in which it stated that it would hold a mega poker festival with 43 events from August 16 to August 27, 2014. The venue will be the Casino Barcelona. Speaking about it, Edgar Stuchly, the president of the EPT, said that the tenth season as so successful that they are excited about holding the 100th EPT. He said: “it’s going to be a historic event and we are looking forward to welcoming thousands of players to Casino Barcelona to take part.”
Last year, the tenth edition of the EPT attracted a field of over 9,000 poker players from all over the world. In 2014, the EPT will collaborate with the Estrellas Poker Tour, a regional live poker event, to offer a wide range of poker tournaments with affordable buy-in ranges.
The schedule comprises interesting events such as the Estrellas €1,100 buy-in Main Event and the €5,300 buy-in EPT Main Event. It also contains brand new events such as a €1k buy-in tournament for senior citizens as well as a €200 buy-in event. High-stakes players can look forward to the €48,500+€1,500 Super High Roller Tournament, which is expected to attract a large number of rich and talented professional poker players from different parts of the world.
In addition, the poker festival will contain a €200 buy-in ladies-only event, a €1k buy-in Limit Omaha Hi/Lo Championship, a €1k buy-in NL Omaha Hi/Lo Championship, and a €1k buy-in PLO Hi/Lo Championship.
PokerStars is currently holding online satellites to help players qualify for the event. The PokerStars press release said that there will be “more satellites than ever before online.”
Among the famous poker players who have already confirmed that they will participate are Mickey Peterson, the champion of EPT Copenhagen; David Vamplew, the champion of EPT London; Stephen Chidwick, the finalist of the Eureka Prague event; Mike McDonald, the runner-up of the PCA and champion of the EPT Dortmund; and Shaun Deeb.
