PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world has been live in New Jersey for little over a month but has already become the leading online poker provider in the garden state. The company wants to further cement its place as the number one provider by capturing even more market share and believes that its New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker (NJSCOOP) will give it added momentum.

PokerStars confirmed that the NJSCOOP will have a total of $1.1 million in prize money to be won and feature $200,000 main event. The tournament is expected to take place from May 15 to May 29 and feature 27 events in a high and low format, which means that the total number of events at NJSCOOP will be 54.

The Main Event will also follow this high and low format with the high buy-in set at $500 along with a guaranteed $200,000 and the low buy-in fixed at $50 with a guaranteed $50,000 to be won. PokerStars is expected to run a number of promotions in the next couple of weeks including a number of satellite events at the PokerStars New Jersey website which will have buy-ins starting as low as $1.

The NSCOOP is expected to attract a huge amount of online poker players including poker legend Chris Moneymaker, who is also a member of Team PokerStars Pro.

In a statement, Moneymaker said “The global PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is one of the must-play poker events of the year.  It’s awesome that it’s coming to New Jersey so that players in the region can experience the exciting tournament structures and the thrill that comes with chasing a major tournament title and big prize money. I can’t wait to play in the first NJSCOOP and I plan to stream most of my play live on Twitch. I would love to win a title in its debut year.”

There will also be a leaderboard present at the PokerStars NJSCOOP tournament that will award points on a sliding scale to players who cash in at any of the 54 events. Players who have the most consistent run at both high and low stake events will be eligible to win over $10,000 in various prize giveaways. The player who tops the leaderboard will receive $2,000 and a special live ticket to an event that is yet to be confirmed.
