PokerStars, the biggest online poker website in the world has built its reputation and player database by coming up with some of the most popular online poker tournaments in the world and the Sunday Million event is considered to be the online website’s flagship event.
The Sunday Million will complete 10 years in 2016 and PokerStars has decided to celebrate its 10th anniversary in grand style by announcing a special $10 million guarantee prize pool where the event winner will walk away with a minimum of $1 million. The first Sunday Million took place on the 5th of March 2006 and PokerStars will celebrate the tenth anniversary by hosting this special edition of Sunday Million on the 20th of March 2016.
The 1st Sunday Million had a total of 5,893 players register and compete for a guaranteed prize pool of $1,178,600. PokerStars has grown exponentially during the last decade and the 10th year Sunday Million anniversary is expected to draw a record number of players who would like to get a chunk of the $10 million on offer. Some of the top poker players in the world such as Johnny Lodden, George Danzer and Chris Moneymaker are expected to take part in the 10th year anniversary event.

One of the biggest changes since the first edition of the Sunday Million is the fact that online poker pros will now be able to stream live action of their play via Twitch.tv. A number of players including Jorge Limon, Betrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Jaime Staples and Felix Schneiders are expected to stream their live action play via their Twitch.tv channels.
PokerStars has decided to hand out 1,200 free entries to players through its hyper turbo freerolls that occur on Sundays and will be made available till the 19th of March. The company has also decided to make a few changes to its usual Sunday Million format and will allow re-entries to take place during this special event. Players will be allowed up to three re-entries and late registration will wind up once three hours have passed since the event commences.
