Recently, PokerStars released its schedule for the ninth season of the European Poker Tour (EPT) with several changes. PokerStars has reduced the number of EPT events to a mere seven from thirteen although each stop will be extended to include plenty of poker action thanks to EPT’s partnership deals with the Estrellas Poker Tour and the UK and Ireland Poker Tour.

This partnership also enables players will slim bankrolls to play with top poker players in the world. This year, the EPT will include a €10k Championship Series, including events such as a €10k Heads-up Event, a €10k PL Omaha Championship, and a €10k 8-Game Championship. Another new event is the €50k televised poker tournament in Barcelona.

According to Edgar Stuchly, president of the EPT, “We looked at every EPT season up until now and asked ourselves how we could make the tour even better for the players. In the end, every change comes down to making this a better tour for the people who make this tour what it is: our players. EPT Season 9 will bring a new level of innovation to our tour and will enhance the experience for all players.”

Regarding the Macau Poker events announced earlier by PokerStars, Danny McDonagh, director of live poker operations for Asia Pacific, said that the Macau Poker Cup, which was to be played in August, has to be cancelled because of events beyond their reasonable control. He also said that the scheduling of PokerStars Macau special events for the rest of this year cannot be confirmed, but promised that a schedule will be released at the earliest possible.

He also said, “I assure all our loyal players and partners that PokerStars Macau is still deeply committed to creating the best poker experience in the world and my team is focused on showing that commitment this upcoming week at the Macau Poker Cup.”
