PokerStars players in the U.S have more reasons to celebrate the upcoming Holiday weekend. Not only will they be able to celebrate Independence Day, they’ll also get the chance to go after decent prize money at the virtual felts without having to pay for the full buy-in amount on selected tournaments!
“Half Price Sundays” will see the buy-ins of some Sunday tournaments being cut by 50% on both PokerStars PA and PokerStars NJ, with guarantees left untouched!
Half Price Sunday Details
The promo applies to six popular Sunday tournaments running on the PA and NJ clients, each to be played at a reduced buy-in. PokerStars PA will run the July 5 edition of its Sunday Warm Up for a buy-in of just $15, with a $10K guarantee. The entry fees for both the Sunday Storm and Sunday Special have also been cut to $5 and $50 respectively, with guarantees remaining at $3,500 and $85,000.
Meanwhile, players can enter the Sunday High Roller for just $125 and compete for guarantees worth $25K. Likewise, the Sunday Supersonic will feature a reduced buy-in of $25 and $7,500 in guarantees.
Over at PokerStars NJ, the promo also features the same line-up of events, but with slight differences in the buy-in and guarantee figures. NJ players can take part in the Sunday Warm Up for a buy-in of just $25 ($10K guaranteed), with the Sunday Storm also featuring an affordable entry fee of $5, with $5K guaranteed.
The popular Sunday Special now comes with a buy-in of $100 with $40K in guarantees, while this Sunday’s edition of Super High Roller and Supersonic will be played for a reduced buy-in of $250 and $37.50 respectively, with guarantees remaining at $8,000 and $5,000.
If you have previously won tickets for these tournaments, be informed that they cannot be used for this promo. However, you can win your way into these big-value tournaments by taking part in satellites for a cheaper price. You can find these events by going to the “Tourney” portion of the PokerStars lobby and choosing “Half Price”.
PokerStars has been running the Half Price promo across its global platform for quite a while now, bringing in half-priced tournaments with big guaranteed prize pools. On February 23, the online poker giant cut the buy-ins of its Sunday Million, Sunday Storm and Sunday Warm Up by half, but maintained their usual guarantees of $150K (Sunday Storm), $250K (Sunday Warm-Up), and $1,000,000 for the Sunday Million.
Half Price Promo Follows Huge Success of Summer Series
The online poker giant is rolling out the promotion across its US markets, in conjunction with the Fourth of July celebrations, giving its US players a cool shot at massive winnings for just half the price! The special promo follows the massive success of the Summer Series which ran on both PA and NJ clients in June, awarding more than $1.8 million in combined total prize pool.
PokerStars PA, which is just 7-month old, has had massive success since launching in the Keystone State in November of last year. Its latest tournament, the Summer Series, ended with a bang just a few days ago after awarding more than $1.2 million in prize money, almost doubling its initial guarantee of $750,000. The series Main Event also smashed its $75K guarantee after paying out $242,300 in total prize pool.
In New Jersey, the Summer Series also had a huge turnout, awarding almost $640,000 in total prizes across more than 40 tournaments. The Main Event ended up awarding $97,000 to the top finishers.
Another remarkable milestone in the NJ market was the addition of PokerStars’ popular fast-fold variant “Zoom” which has already become a huge hit to European players. While it remains to be seen whether Zoom will also be offered in PA, ambassador Jen Shahade suggested it could happen as PokerStars remains committed to giving players as much variation as possible.
For the meantime, NJ and PA players can expect an exciting weekend ahead as they commemorate an important milestone on the 4th of July.
