Cryptocurrency and poker are two related industries. Crypto trading and playing poker both share an element of luck and skill. Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of well-known poker pros promoting crypto, with numerous online poker platforms also integrating cryptocurrency into their system.
This is why it comes as no surprise if partnerships are built between these two worlds. We’ve seen one recently – a new alliance between crypto cashback provider StormX and leading poker content provider PokerGO.
Both brands will hold an invitational poker tournament on March 3, 2022, which will be participated in by entrepreneurs, crypto investors, famous celebrities, and well-known poker pros. The PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort and Casino in Las Vegas will play host to the action.
Tom Dwan, Maria Ho Among Those Taking Part
The line-up includes NBA stars Paul Pierce and Michael Carter-Williams, NASCAR driver Landon Cassill, Masterchef finalist David Williams, Litecoin creator Charlie Lee, Victoria’s Secret model Amber Arbucci, and top poker pros Tom Dwan, Nick Schulman, Matt Berkey, and Maria Ho.
The invite-only tournament comes with a buy-in of $5,000 and currently has 81 confirmed contestants. They will compete for a minimum pot of $405,000 and that figure is expected to go up to $500,000 as the event also allows a $5,000 rebuy. Poker and crypto fans will be able to catch the action live on StormX’s website and its YouTube and Twitter channels.
Those looking to be one of the sponsors of the event, or who want to be included in the line-up of participants may contact marketing@stormx.io. A percentage of the sponsorship proceeds will be donated to multiple charities in Miami with an aim to increase crypto and financial literacy in the city.

PokerGO Joins the Crypto Craze

Just two weeks ago, PokerGO announced StormX as its exclusive cryptocurrency partner. Both signed a multi-year deal, boosting the poker industry’s links with the latest tech craze. The partnership covers sponsorship and branding opportunities, and a range of promotions for both brands.
The new alliance started with StormX serving as the official sponsor of PokerGO’s recently-concluded poker tournament series, Stairway to Millions. The event ran from January 12 to 20 at the PokerGO Studio at the Aria in Las Vegas. Nick Petrangelo has had a successful run at the series, winning back-to-back tournaments. The American poker pro and lead tournament coach at Upswing Poker took home around $1.5 million in combined prizes for his great performance.
Stairway to Millions is just one of the many tournaments that will be held as part of PokerGO’s partnership with StormX. The upcoming invite-only tournament is expected to be held annually, with both brands also planning to hold special events that will award cryptocurrency tokens and PokerGO subscriptions.
StormX is the world’s leading crypto cashback provider. Users can use the StormX app to make purchases at thousands of online stores, such as DoorDash, Uber, and Nike. In return, they earn a cashback with each purchase. They then receive the cashback in crypto.
PokerGO can use StormX’s service to provide enhanced value to its subscribers. For example, the company can offer subscription packages through StormX. That way, poker fans can earn a cashback whenever they make a purchase.
According to Mori Eskandani, President of PokerGO, crypto is part of the global poker community, and its partnership with StormX will unlock a wide range of opportunities that will enable the company to improve its service and offer a better experience for its loyal customers.
For its part, StormX will benefit from branding opportunities that will enable it to reach a wider audience. Simon Yu, CEO and founder of StormX, said that poker is also widely embraced within the crypto world.
