The World Poker Tour (WPT) will make its final stop for 2017 at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada to host its WPT Five Diamond Classic which is scheduled to take place from November 25 and finish on December 11. This two week long poker festival is packed with a number of exciting poker events and is expected to attract the top poker players in the country.
TheWPT Five Diamond Classic with have four high-roller events but the highlight will be the WPT Five Diamond Classic Main Event which takes place from December 5 – 10 and has a buy-in for $10,400. The WPT has scheduled a mix of low stakes and high stakes poker action where buy-ins start from $500 and go all the way up to $5,000. This is to enable as many poker players as possible to participate in the final WPT event of the year.
playMGM Launches Satellite Events
MGM Resorts announced in May 2017 that it planned to enter the online gaming market by launching an online poker and online casino. The company launched both websites under the playMGM brand in August 2017 using casino software from GVC Holdings. playMGM poker also shares player pools in New Jersey with Party Poker and Borgata Poker.
playMGM recently announced that it had partnered with the WPT and will be offering online satellites to the WPT Five Diamond Classic. Poker players who would like to play at the WPT event but are finding it hard to come up with the money for the buy-in will have a chance to qualify by winning one of these online satellite events. playMGM has an online satellite event starting at $10 which gives players the chance to win a seat at the Main Event.
MGM Resorts which bought out its partner Boyd Gaming in December 2016 is also the owner and operator of the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. playMGM will also offer online satellites at the Bellagio to give online poker players in Nevada a chance to qualify.
playMGM Satellite Package
The playMGM satellite events which start at $10 will give the winners entry into the $55 Bellagio Qualifier. The satellite events start at 5.40 pm and 8.40 pm and will be held on a daily basis. One out of every six players will win a seat at the $55 Bellagio Qualifier and two winners will qualify. One out of every eleven players will receive a $535 entry to the Bellagio Super Satellite which gives the winner direct entry to the WPT Bellagio Five Diamond. One out of the 24 entries will win a special online satellite package valued at $12,000.
There will be a total of five $535 Bellagio Super Satellite events that take place every Sunday at 6.20 pm. The first satellite event will start on October 29 and run for five consecutive Sunday’s with the last event taking place on December 3. Those who end up winning the special playMGM online satellite package to the WPT Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic will receive a buy-in to the $10,400 Main Event and an additional $1,600 in cash to be used for accommodation and travel expenses. WPT Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic
The WPT Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic is rated as one of the top WPT events of the year and has one of the highest buy-ins of all WPT events. The 2016 edition saw a great response as 791 players registered and created a prize pool of $7,672,700 which helped it equal the L.A. Poker Classic of 2007 record of being the largest $10,000 buy-in event in the history of the WPT.
Poker pro James Romero from Portland won the Main Event and took home $1,938,118 after defeating high stake poker pros Jake Schindler and Justin Bonomo. The WPT Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event has been won by some of the top poker players in the world in previous editions. Past winners include Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, Dan Smith and Antonio Esfandiari.
