Live! Casino in Greensburg, Pennsylvania has announced that it will open a new poker room. The company announced plans to offer poker games to its patrons in Western Pennsylvania starting next year, pending approval from the state’s gaming regulator.
Live! Casino general manager Sean Sullivan said the new poker room will provide their customers another reason to enjoy their stay at the property.
The new room will occupy a 1,400 square foot space, located right next to the property’s sports-themed dining hub, the Sports & Social Steel City. The room will have seven tables.

Free Poker Dealer School

Sullivan also announced that they have launched their free Poker Dealer School which aims to help those who are keen on starting a career in the gaming industry. Dealers trained at the school also get the opportunity to be employed at Live! Casino’s soon-to-open poker room in Greensburg. Those who are interested to be trained for free may register now to secure a slot for the next training as classes always fill up fast.
The classes have begun on Monday, November 8, and Live! Casino is still accepting applications for the next sessions. Participants may choose between two time slots: 10:00AM – 2:00PM, or 6:00PM – 10:00PM. Classes take place at Live! Dealer School at the Westmoreland Mall.
Sullivan said the company is proud to continue its investment in Westmoreland County by opening up various opportunities such as the free Poker Dealer training classes which will benefit members in and around the community.

New Room Will Boost Poker Market in Western PA

There are two poker rooms currently operating in Western Pennsylvania – Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows Racetrack.
Rivers houses around 30 tables, the largest in the region. Players can enjoy live games from Monday through Friday and during weekends as well. Hollywood Park is home to a smaller poker room with 14 tables.
Both rooms used to run tournaments daily, but they were put to a halt due to COVID-19. Since the pandemic began in 2020, Rivers and Hollywood Park have yet to bring back their tournament offerings and players in the region will have to go elsewhere to play tournaments for the foreseeable future as both rooms currently have no plans of restarting their daily tourneys.
A Rivers employee shared that the casino is planning to resume running monthly events in December, while Hollywood Park will offer Sit & Go tournaments.
There aren’t a lot of choices for players in and around Pittsburgh in terms of live poker offerings. That’s in contrast to the bustling poker markets in places like Philadelphia and Florida. In Philly for example, poker rooms have pretty much returned to normal operations, with daily tournaments available to players. But the region is home to a number of popular and top poker pros, such as Matt Berkey and Dewey Tomko.
Across Pennsylvania, only 10 casinos currently have active poker rooms, including Live! Casino in Philadelphia.

Live! Casino

Live! Casino began operating in PA back in November 2020, being the first of four small casinos that were granted Category 4 licenses. These mini casinos, also known as “satellite casinos”, can only offer a limited number of games – no more than 40 table games and 750 slot machines. Live! Casino also operates in Baltimore, Maryland which also has its own poker room.
Live! Casino is owned by The Cordish Companies, a real estate, entertainment and casino giant established in 1910. Its broad portfolio includes, among others, the Ballpark Village in St Louis Missouri, Charleston Place, Fusion Arena in Philadelphia, and the popular Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood and Tampa Florida.
