It’s always nice to be a VIP and being a member of the Palladium Lounge at PartyPoker is no exception.  The thing is, sometimes, because they are so good, Palladium Loungers are excluded from a PartyPoker promotion now and then (like the upcoming $50,000 Full House Cash Game Race).  On the flip side, though, there are often specials that are exclusively for the elite players, such as Party’s Palladium Oktoberfest Poker Race.
Running August 2nd through August 29th, the Palladium Oktoberfest Poker Race is a contest in which members of the Palladium Lounge will compete for one of 35 prize packages to the 200th Oktoberfest in Germany.
The Poker Race is split into four weekly VIP points races.  Each week, the top 100 PartyPoints earners will win cash prizes, with $2,000 going to the week’s winner on down to $25 for the 61st through 100th place finishers.  In addition, the top 500 points earners will receive special Oktoberfest leader board points.  First place will get 1,000 points, second place will receive 975, etc., all the way down to 50 points for the 401st through 500th ranked players each week.  The official weekly breakdown is as follows:
Week 1: August 2nd through August 8th

Week 2:
August 9th through August 15th
Week 3: August 16th through August 22nd
Week 4: August 23rd through August 29th
At the end of the competition, the top 30 players on the Oktoberfest leader board will all win one of the Oktoberfest prize packages.  Additionally, 1st through 5th places will pocket $1,000, 6th through 10th will get $750, and 11th through 20th will receive $500.
As for the other five Oktoberfest prize packages, those will be awarded to the top five finishers in a special freeroll.  Eligible for this freeroll are the 31st through 500th finishers on the Oktoberfest leaderboard.
Because of the structure of the contest, it is impossible for a player grind it out 24-hours a day for several days, put a ton of distance in between himself and the next closest player on the leader board, and clinch a prize package early on.  Since a new batch of Oktoberfest points are up for grabs every week, players must hit the tables all month to stay atop the standings.
Here is what the Oktoberfest prize package looks like:
* Two night’s accommodation at a five-star hotel in Munich for both the winner and a guest.  Breakfast is included, for those, like my parents, who are concerned about that sort of thing.
* Dinner at the Davidoff Lounge at Allianz Stadium.  Open bar is included and a poker tournament will follow.
* Spa treatment or other activity.
* Two Saturday night Oktoberfest passes (this is an Oktoberfest contest, after all).
* VIP party at Pacha night club.
* VIP hospitality provided by the PartyPoker events team.
Like many PartyPoker promotions, players must opt-in to the Palladium Oktoberfest Poker Race.  On top of that, for whatever reason, players must opt-in to each week of the promotion.  To opt-in, just login to your PartyPoker account on PartyPoker’s website and navigate to the promotion link.  If you haven’t created a PartyPoker account yet, you can signup using Tight Poker’s exclusive Party Poker bonus code.  While it’s probably too late to make it all the way to the Palladium VIP level, you can always start working your way up for the next Palladium VIP promos.
