Most amateur poker players dream of playing in the World Series of Poker Main Event once in their lives. Even if they don’t make it past the first day, it would be the achievement of a life-long dream. Like most online poker sites, PartyPoker is awarding seats in the 2010 WSOP Main Event through various qualifying tournaments. That has all been discussed before. But now, PartyPoker has taken the leap and launched the “WSOP for Life” promotion.
Via a leader board race and a tournament, PartyPoker is awarding two prize packages that will give the winners a seat in the $10,000 WSOP Main Even for life. Now, we should clarify, PartyPoker’s terms of promotion indicate that the word “Life” means up to 20 years. So, while it’s not exactly “for life,” it’s still really nice.
The prize package comes in two parts. The first is for the 2010 World Series of Poker, which will be worth $14,000. It consists of the $10,000 buy-in for the No-Limit Hold’em Championship, $2,500 spending money, and $1,500 for travel and accommodations. The second part of the prize package begins with the 2011 WSOP. Starting next year, the winners will receive just the $10,000 buy-in for the next 19 years, or as long as PartyPoker and the WSOP exist, whichever duration is shorter.
There are two ways to win one of the PartyPoker “WSOP for Life” prize packages. The first is through a classic leader board race, open exclusively to Bronze, Silver, and Gold VIP level players (sorry Palladium and Palladium Elite). Starting May 24th, players just need to hop on the virtual real money tables and start earning PartyPoints. After June 20th, the player who has earned the most PartyPoints will win the “WSOP for Life” package. It’s not an all-or-nothing proposition, though. The second through fourth place finishers will each win a 2010 WSOP prize package, while rest of the top 500 will all win cash prizes, ranging from $3,000 down to $15.
The other “WSOP for Life” prize package will be awarded through a multi-table tournament. One June 20th, the $300 + $20 WSOP for Life Grand Final will be held at PartyPoker, with the winner receiving the gigantic prize. Like with the leader board, the next three finishers will win the 2010 WSOP prize package and the rest of the top 50 (as opposed to top 500) will win cash prizes. Players can buy-in directly or qualify through a series of satellites, starting with daily freerolls.
Beyond the three-tiered satellite structure for the Grand Final, players can also qualify for the tournament via Sit-and-Go’s. Nine single-table tournament (STT) jackpots will be made available and a first-come, first-served basis. Between May 24th and June 18th, the first person to win five $55 or greater buy-in STT’s in a row will win the $50,000 gold jackpot. The first three players to win five STT’s in a row with buy-ins of $12 to $54 will win a $20,000 jackpot, and the first five players to win five STT’s in a row with $3 to $11 buy-ins will win a $10,000 jackpot. Each jackpot winner will earn a spot in the WSOP for Life Grand Final for the chance to win the WSOP prize package.
There are a number of terms and conditions for claiming the various prizes, so be sure to visit PartyPoker.com to read up on all the rules.
