The tournament is still a few months away, but Party Poker is already gearing up for the 2010 Aussie Millions by offering players a chance to win one of 25 Aussie Millions prize packages, which include entry into the AUD$10,500 buy-in event. The upcoming Aussie Millions tournament series will take place at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia from January 14th-31st. The Main Event is scheduled to take place from the 24th through the 30th and boasts a guaranteed 1st place prize of AUD$2 million.
Party Poker users interested in winning their way into the popular event need to clear their calendar for Sunday December 13th. There will be two separate satellite events running on that day. One will be exclusively for Australian and New Zealand-based players and will award five seats, while the other one will be open to all other Party Poker players and will award 20 seats. The buy-in for these two events is set at $600 + $40. The Aussie-only event will kick off at 2:45AM ET while the other satellite is scheduled to take place at 12:45PM ET. There are 25 guaranteed seats up for grabs with the potential for more depending on how many players take part in each of the satellites.
Users can buy-into the December 13th satellites directly or they can win their way in through one of the several daily satellites running on Party Poker. Players can win their way in by playing in one of the daily tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $8 to $28. The $1 and $8 events feed into a daily qualifying satellite with a $64 + $6 buy-in. One in every ten players in the qualifying satellite will advance to the Aussie Millions Final satellite event. The $28 satellites feed into a $128 satellite where one in every five players advances to the Aussie Millions final.
Party Poker is also offering daily freerolls and events with PartyPoints buy-ins that feed into a weekly Aussie Millions Special satellite which will run on Saturdays at 3:50PM ET. Five players from each of the weekly tournaments will win entry into the Aussie Millions Final event on Party Poker.
The prize packages for the event include buy-in, hotel accommodations at the Crown and travel expenses. The Australia/NZ package is valued at $12,000 while the rest of the world package includes an additional $3,000 for travel expenses. Players are responsible for arranging that all of their travel documents are in order so that they can participate in the tournament.
The reigning Aussie Millions champion Stewart Scott recently signed a sponsorship deal with Party Poker and is the latest addition to their grassroots team of pros, Team Party Poker. He sent out encouraging words to all those players trying to win their way into the event in a statement on Party Poker’s official website. “I’ve been playing at for five years. These great packages are an amazing opportunity for other players to play in this huge tournament”, Scott explained. “Claiming the Aussie Millions title has been the highlight of my career and I’d love to see another player take the title.”
