With its first Monthly Million tournament approaching, Party Poker has just added extra qualifiers for the $1 million guaranteed tourney that happens this Sunday. The first of the new qualifiers is the “50 Seat Frenzy” which takes place on Saturday at 11:25 ET (16:25 GMT) and will award 50 seats to the top 50 finishers.
Another one of the qualifiers is the “Super8” which will be running at various times over the weekend; there is an $88 buy-in for this tournament and one out of every eight players will win a Monthly Million seat. The last of the new qualifiers is the “Ultimate Qualifier” which happens before the Monthly Million at 11:15 ET (16:15 GMT). It costs $340 to enter and allows one out of every two players to win a Monthly Million seat.
The inaugural Party Poker Monthly Million will happen this Sunday (February 1st) at 12:45 ET (17:45 GMT) and will occur on the first Sunday of every month from here on out. A direct buy-in is $640, but players can also win their way in through various other satellites that cost as little as $1 to enter. The $68 daily satellites, $55 Mega Friday, and $35 Super Saturday Satellite all guarantee players seats in the $1 million guaranteed tournament.
In addition to the online tournament qualifiers Party Poker runs, they also give people chances to qualify for big land-based tournaments too. Team Party Poker currently has 22 players competing in the Asian Poker Tour Philippines event via $6,000 prize packages. These people are playing for a total prize pool of $635,000 against a field of 262 players that includes famous pros like Steve Sung, Nam Le, Quinn Do, David Saab, and David “Chino” Rheem.
The CEO of the Asian Poker Tour, Chris Parker, is very happy about the turnout for this year’s APT Philippines event and he said,
“We’re very pleased with the field and turnout which features players from all over the world. There are so many that are returning to play again after experiencing last year’s event. We’d like to thank all the players for coming to Manila and hope they all enjoy the famous Asian Poker Tour hospitality.”
The APT Philippines event has been running since January 27th and several of the side tournaments are already completed. Sweden’s Henrik Eklund won the PKR Headhunter tournament, Manila’s Francis Uy took victory in the Ray Ban Invitational, and the Filipino Celebrity Charity tournament was won by “The Playgirls”. In all, over 200,000 pesos were earned for charity through the Filipino Celebrity Charity event.
