Las Vegas has become the perfect destination for poker players throughout summer and for good reason. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) which is the world’s longest-running poker festival is currently underway at the Rio, with a number of bracelet events and other side events taking place during the month and a half long tournament.
Apart from the WSOP, there is also plenty of great events in store for players in other casinos such as Binions, the Wynn, Aria, Orleans, the Venetian, Planet Hollywood, and the Golden Nugget.
Cash game grinders will also find tons of opportunities to boost their bankroll with unlimited cash games running 24/7. While the summer schedule features a wide range of poker variants for players to choose from, it is always the no-limit hold’em (NLH) tournaments that attract the most attention. If you haven’t made up your mind yet on where to play this week in Vegas, the below guide will be of help to you.
WSOP Event #26: $2,620 No-Limit Hold’em Marathon
Taking place from June 10-15, the Marathon has one of the deepest NLH structures in the summer schedule, apart from the WSOP Main Event. To fall in line with the marathon’s official distance of 26.2 miles, WSOP Event #26 features a $2,620 buy-in and 26,200 in starting chips, played in 100-minute levels. Players can still late register until the second blind level on Day 2.
The final six players will meet again on June 15 for the final battle which will be streamed live via CBS All Access in the US, Canada and Australia. Poker fans watching outside these three countries can stream the action live at PokerGO.
Wynn Summer Classic $1,100 NLH
An alternative to the WSOP is the Wynn Summer Classic which starts on June 11 and takes place until July 16. There are tons of events on the schedule, but one event NLH players should consider is the $1,100 NLH which kicks off on June 11 and finishes on June 13. This event features a guaranteed prize pool of $1.5 million.
The event has two opening flights on June 11-12. Players begin with 20,000 chips, with blinds increasing every 40 minutes. Players are allowed to re-enter until the start of Level 10 of each flight, which kicks off after the dinner break. The nine-handed final table will play out on June 13 until a winner is crowned.
Phamous Poker Series GOLIATH $200K GTD NLH
Summer poker grinders can find significant value in the Phamous Poker Series GOLIATH which is underway at Planet Hollywood. The main highlight of the series is the $200,000-guaranteed NLH event with a buy-in of just $300, taking place on June 12-14.
The event features a total of six starting flights running on June 12-13. The opening flights take place at 11am, 3pm and 7pm on both days, featuring 30-minute and 20-minute blind levels. The structure becomes deeper after the initial flights, with blind levels increasing to 40 minutes.
Unlimited re-entry is allowed, but players should take note of the late registration period which closes before the start of Level 13. The winner will be awarded at least $40,000 in prize money on June 14.
$600 NLH EpicStack (Venetian DeepStack Championship Series)
Another tournament worth-checking out is the Venetian DeepStack Championship Poker Series which features a massive $24 million in total guaranteed prize pools, spread across 116 event. The DeepStack Championship Series kicked off on May 13 and will run until July 28.
The biggest event on the Venetian summer calendar is the $600 NLH EpicStack, with $750,000 in guarantees up for grabs. Players start with 50,000 chips during each of the five opening flights on June 14-16, with blinds increasing every 30 minutes. This will increase to 40 minutes after the start of Level 27. The event will allow players to bring forth their biggest stack on the final day (June 17).
It’s not every day you get the chance to play significant value events in the same city. Las Vegas is special and if you are in the city, you know where to find some great NLH poker action during this week.
