The next few weeks will be huge for poker players in Michigan and New Jersey as PokerStars is hosting its popular Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) in both markets. MISCOOP and NJSCOOP will take place at the same time, from May 8 to 24, with both schedules featuring dozens of events available in the Low, Medium, and High buy-in tiers.
PokerStars is upping the ante for NJSCOOP, with the series featuring a total of 165 tournaments and $1.2 million in guarantees. Over in Michigan, the online poker operator hopes to maintain its dominance by launching the inaugural MISCOOP, which comes with a massive guarantee of $2 million.
Inaugural MISCOOP Guarantees $2 Million
For the first-time ever, players in the Wolverine State will have their own version of SCOOP, and to celebrate, PokerStars MI is promising $2 million in guaranteed prize money, to be won across a total of 120 tournaments, with buy-ins ranging from $5, all the way up to $1,000.
Players will also get to choose from a wide variety of variants and formats, including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, 5-Card PLO, PLO8, HORSE, 8-Game, Heads-Up, Turbo, Hyper, Deepstack, and Progressive Knockout.
The series will be headlined by a trio of Main Events, all getting underway on May 23. The High version costs $300 to enter and features $200,000 in guarantees.
PokerStars MI will also be awarding extra prizes via the MISCOOP Leaderboard wherein the top 30 finishers will win a share of an additional $10,000 in prizes, $3,000 of that will go to the overall series winner.
There are plenty of chances for players to compete in the series for more affordable prices. First, there are satellites running throughout the festival which will award tickets to the key tournaments on the schedule, including the Main Event. Second players can take a shot at various freerolls, such as the MISCOOP Depositor Freeroll, as well as Second Chance Freerolls.
For the Depositor Freeroll, players simply need to deposit at least $30 into their accounts using the bonus code “MISCOOP”. Upon doing so, they will earn a ticket to the freeroll on May 23 which will award 50 seats into the $300 High Main Event.
Main Event tickets will also be given away in special Sit $Go’s with buy-ins of as low as $3.
Expanded NJSCOOP Schedule for 2021
The NJSCOOP schedule has been expanded this year, with more events to choose from. The 2021 schedule includes 55 individual events, each having a Low, Medium, and High buy-in version, meaning there are 165 events overall, awarding $1.2 million in combined guarantees. This is by far the largest NJSCOOP schedule, even bigger than last year’s edition which featured a total of 96 tournaments.
NJSCOOP was launched in 2016 and since then, it’s been giving all players the chance to take part in the big events for a cheaper price by running plenty of satellites as well as promotions and bonuses. The tradition continues this year, with satellites and freerolls taking place throughout the festival.
Similar to Michigan, PokerStars NJ is also running a Depositor Freeroll. To be eligible, players are required to deposit $30 or more, using the bonus code “NJSCOOP”. Players who bust in any event without reaching the money may also take part in Second Chance Freerolls.
As usual, the main highlight of the series will be the High Main Event, which features a $300 entry fee, the same as Michigan. Both differ in their guarantees though, as the NJ version will award $100,000 in guaranteed prize pool.
The 2021 SCOOP, which ran across PokerStars’ global client, just concluded on Wednesday, April 29. The massive festival featured a total of 306 tournaments across 22 days of online action. It ended up generating more than $137 million in total prize pool, smashing its $100 million advertised guarantee.
PokerStars is looking forward to another successful Spring series for its Michigan and New Jersey players.
