US state of Nevada has completed six months of licensed and regulated online poker. While the competition between Nevada’s only licensed online poker rooms, WSOP.com and Ultimate Poker, is getting intense, player traffic continues to increase at both sites.
Ultimate Poker is the country’s first licensed online poker room, and it remained the only online poker room for around four and a half months. Ever since its launch, it has developed a great deal. During its first days in operation, Ultimate Poker faced several problems identifying player location because only a few cell phone providers had signed on to the online poker room. However, a few weeks later, most of the cell phone providers had signed on.
When it began functioning, Ultimate Poker was not the best. But it gave US poker players their online poker game. Ultimate Poker had launched on a software program that was full of bugs and lacked a VIP scheme. In August, Ultimate Poker upgraded its software with a number of interesting features, the best of which was a VIP program. This month, Ultimate Poker introduced games such as PL Omaha, PL Omaha Hi Lo, and FL Omaha Hi Lo into its portfolio. These new games have attracted player attention and are sure to increase player traffic to the site.
WSOP.com faced the same problems that Ultimate Poker had faced when it was launched. Since all cell phone providers did not sign on to WSOP.com, the online poker room was unable to identify player location effectively. However, all major providers are now offering location services at WSOP.com.
Ever since its launch, WSOP.com has increased limits for its cash games, as a result of which FL Texas Hold’em, Stud Hi Lo, and Omaha Hi Lo are now available for $10/$20. WSOP.com has also modified the structure of its Sit ‘N’ Gos by introducing heads-up games. The online poker room has also tweaked its tournament schedule. Player traffic flow to WSOP.com has been steadily rising ever since its launch six weeks back.
Throughout the last six months, the state of Nevada has proved that it is capable of successfully running two Internet poker rooms. These sites will never suffer from small player pools or lack of traffic because each stands in a class of its own. Each site offers different games, limits, and features. The fact that traffic is rising at both sites indicates that new poker players have begun signing up for real money.
