The Venetian and the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour (MSPT) will together host the Poker Bowl, a tournament with guaranteed prize pool of $300,000 and a buy-in of $1,100, which will be played from Feb 2 – 4.
The event will have two starting flights. They will be held at noon on Feb 2 and Feb 3. The players will return on Feb 4, Saturday to continue playing till a winner is determined. The timing enables players to take part in the Poker Bowl and then watch the Super Bowl of this year on Sunday.
Bryan Mileski, the president of the MSPT, said that the MSPT Venetian has been a roaring success from the last three years, owing to which it makes sense “to offer players another chance at a huge payday.” The best time to organize a live poker tournament is just before the year’s largest sports event. He said: “The Poker Bowl gives our players the perfect excuse to visit Las Vegas for Super Bowl weekend.”
The MSPT is visiting the Venetian outside the summer months for the first time. The Venetian hosted the biggest event in the history of the MSPT in June last year. The player field was as large as 2,887 and the winner was Thomas Boivin, who took home a large prize of $325,153. Previous MSPT winners are Angelina Rich, who won $215,815 in 2015 and Drake Bronk, who won $163,870 in the inaugural event of 2014.
The Poker Bowl, the first event of its kind, will be held as a part of the Deepstack Extravaganza, an event with a total guaranteed prize pool of $2.5 million. This mega event will be played from January 30 to February 27.
In June 2017, the MSPT plans to come back to the Venetian for a summer tournament, but hasn’t confirmed the dates yet.
Tommy LaRosa, the poker room manager at The Venetian, said that the hotel casino resort is happy to collaborate with the MSPT to organize two poker events, beginning with the Poker Bowl on February 2 – 4 and ending with another event, which will be held as part of the Deepstack Extravaganza III in summer.
The poker room at The Venetian has 37 poker tables and the games embrace popular poker variants such as PL Omaha, NL Hold’em, and Omaha 8 or Better. The top features of the venue include a smoke-free zone, charging outlets, polite and well-trained staff, and tableside services.
