The casino industry has often been portrayed as an industry that causes more harm than good to families, host localities and society in general as gambling opponents use every opportunity they can to highlight issues pertaining to money laundering, problem gambling and criminal activities. What these groups fail to highlight is the number of benefits that casino operators bring to the table which include the creation of jobs, increase in tourist numbers, charity donations and a boost to the local economy and state government in the form of gaming taxes.
MGM Launches MPV Card
MGM Resorts is one of the biggest and most popular casino operators in the United States. The company recently announced the launch of a new MVP Loyalty Card program that has been designed to recognize and honor military personnel who have served the country. The new card is called the Military & Veterans Program (MVP) and will cover military personnel and their spouses.
Casino operators are known to offer their patrons a number of different reward and bonus cards to encourage loyalty and keep them coming back to the property. These reward cards are given to select customers who will be able to avail select discounts on products and services as specified by the terms and conditions.
MGM Resorts wanted to say thanks to the military in a special way and decided to do that by creating the customized MGM MPV Card. This card is valid for life and military personnel immediately get upgraded ‘Pearl Status’ which ensures they get the follow benefits at all MGM properties across the country. They will have access to complimentary self-parking, get discounts on spa treatments and dining, room rates and entertainment will also be discounted.
The MPV card had its soft launch in July 2017 and since then MGM Resorts has done its part to promote the card to the military demographic in the country by advertising in magazines and newspapers that are generally read by the military. The company has also done a lot of social media marketing to spread awareness of the special privileges that military personnel and their families can avail at MGM properties once they receive the MPV card.
MGM Reaching Out To Military
Chief Master Sgt. (retired) Wilson Edgell is one of the military veterans that has benefitted from his association with the MGM brand. Edgell served in the Air Force for 27 years and towards the end of his deployment spent time in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He joined MGM in 2013 as part of the Boots to Business program and is now in charge of recruiting veterans with disabilities and finding them job opportunities at MGM.
He was happy to see MGM Resorts take yet another initiative with its MPV card launch to thank and support military personnel.
In a statement, Edgell said “The company has always been a significant supporter of our military population, not only here in Las Vegas where we have Nellis and Creech, but I’m talking Beau Rivage with Biloxi (Mississippi) right up the road and in (Washington) D.C. with the dense military population there.”
The new MPV card program will allow military personnel and their families to enjoy both gaming and non-gaming opportunities at discounted prices throughout all MGM properties on all 365 days in a year.
Casino Operators Welcome Military Personnel
Apart from MGM Resorts, there are also a number of other casino operators who have special offers and discounts for military personnel. Wynn Resorts provides active and retired military personnel with a 10 percent discount on room rates and a $30 discount on tickets to its ‘Le Reve’ show. Station Casinos has launched ‘Operation Thank You’ that has a special ‘military edition’ boarding pass to the casinos loyalty program. However this pass is only applicable to military personnel and does not cover their spouses.
