Poker players in Europe are in for a treat in the coming weeks with two major tournaments featuring a combined prize pool of €27 million.
The action has already started with the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) festival starting on March 24. SCOOP caters to players in the Spanish, French and Portuguese markets. The Winamax Series will start in April and run simultaneously with SCOOP, giving EU poker players a ton of exciting online poker events to choose from.
SCOOP Heads to Southern Europe
Taking place from March 24 to April 11, the SCOOP festival features €15 million in combined guaranteed prize pools. Last year’s SCOOP festival attracted 37,000 entries from Spain and France. This year, players from Portugal can join the excitement and take part in as many as 290 events.
The main highlight of the tournament is the €250 SCOOP Main Event, which features a massive €1 million guarantee. The two-day event will begin on April 8, and will follow a progressive knockout format. A huge stack of 250,000 chips will start the action, with blinds increasing every 20 minutes.
Not only will this year’s SCOOP festival be offering massive value at an affordable price, its lower buy-in events are also set to break records for PokerStars Europe. The €50 buy-in Special Progressive KO is expected to create a new buy-in record for the site on March 31. Players will compete for €300,000 in guarantees.
Players will also be able to qualify for SCOOP events via numerous promotions running throughout the festival. PokerStars Europe is giving away €150,000 in free tickets in SCOOP Depositor Freerolls. Players can also win a share of the €60,000 on offer in SCOOP Second Chance Freerolls.
In addition to this, more than €15,000 is also up for grabs in a leaderboard, which includes an €8,220 package to EPT Monte Carlo. Players who are unable to make it to the leaderboard still have other options to win their way to the Monte Carlo tournament. Special Spin & Go qualifiers will run on and .fr sites, giving players the chance to win packages valued at over €8,000, for a buy-in of just €30.
Package winners will get to enjoy seven nights free accommodation at the Monte Carlo Bay Casino, and earn a free seat to the €5,300 Main Event which takes place on April 20 to May 4.
Winamax Series Puts €12 Million Up For Grabs
Winamax is the premier online poker operator in France and will run its Winamax Series simultaneously with SCOOP from March 31 to April 11. The festival will showcase a total of 165 events, offering a massive prize pool of €12 million.
The action begins with three NLHE Monster Start events on March 31, offering up to €100,000 in guarantees for a buy-in of €10, €50, and €250 respectively.
Players will have a wide variety of buy-ins to choose from. Recreational players can take part in events with buy-ins starting from as low as €5. Those who are into higher-level action can opt to join in the €1,000 High Roller event taking place on April 7, with a guaranteed prize pool of €300,000.
While some events running at the Winamax Series have lower buy-ins, players will still be able to earn big. The €5 High Five event which has 20 opening flights, is offering a €300,000 guarantee. The €15 Little KO and the €30 Colossus events feature a large prize pool of €500,000 each. The events also have 20 starting flights which will kick off on March 31. Surviving players will play it out on Day with the winner crowned on the final day, April 11.
The festival’s Main Event offers a whopping €2 million guarantee, which is in line with the record guarantee offered for the same event in January of this year. The €125 buy-in Main Event will have 12 starting flights taking place on April 3-10. The event will play out for two more days until a winner emerges. Players can win a seat to the event at a cheaper price by taking part in satellites, or by playing in a lottery-style Expresso Qualifier for just €4.
Some of the other poker variants listed on the schedule include PLO, Mix Max, and 6-Max.
