Previously, MainEventTravel.com struck similar deals with live poker tours such as Genting Poker Series (GPS) and Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT).

The English Poker Open has been held successfully for the past four years and has already become very popular. The live poker event will be held at Aspers Westfield, a fabulous venue, for the first time this year.

In 2009, the English Poker Open attracted a field of 213 players and gave away a first-place prize of £208,367 to the champion David La Ronde. Michael Tureniec was the runner-up of the event. In 2010, Fabian Quoss became the English Poker Open champion and took home the first place prize of £220,650. The English Poker Open was not held in 2011, but it was back in 2012 with a player field of 138, and this time, Mickey Peterson carried home the top prize of £78,660.

Although the player field has been reducing from year to year, the figures do not mean that the event’s popularity has reduced. The English Poker Open was held in the Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in 2009, and the next year, it was held in the Fox Poker Club, which is now defunct. Now that the English Poker Open 2013 will be held in Aspers Westfield and the company has teamed up with MainEventTravel.com, the event will definitely regain its past glory and attract a large number of participants.

Dale Garrad, head (poker operations) for MainEventTravel.com, said: “The English Poker Open is widely recognised as an event attended by some of the UK’s finest players, notables last year included Sam Trickett, Toby Lewis, Neil Channing, Mickey Petersen, Chris Brammer and our very own sponsored pro Rhys Jones. 2013 looks sure to be a fantastic event and we look forward to helping players ‘Get There.’”
