The grand finale of the eighth season of the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) will be held at San Paulo in Brazil from Nov 25 to Dec 3, 2015 on the sidelines of the Brazil Series of Poker (BSOP) Millions.
The two tours will unite to create a 32-event poker festival with something for everybody. The highlights of the festival are going to be the R$19k LAPT Grand Final Main Event and the R$3k BSOP Millions. The schedule also includes events such as the PL Omaha Courchevel, Seniors Tournament, NL Hold’em Six Max, Ladies Tournament, and NL Hold’em Survivor, which will be played at 10:00 p.m. daily.
The BSOP Millions, which attracted a player field of 15,000 last year, is Latin America’s biggest poker event. The main event alone had a field of 2,749 players. Wilson Calixto emerged as its champion and won the first-place prize of $416,168.
BSOP CEO Igor Federal said: “The BSOP Millions and the LAPT Grand Final are the two most important live poker events in Latin America. The region has seen a massive increase in player numbers in recent years, with the BSOP reporting a 218% increase in tournament entries since last year. Bringing together the two tours means that we can combine our efforts to create one amazing festival, and we are expecting record numbers of players.”
Voicing his opinion of the event, Andre Akkari, a member of Team PokerStars Pro, said the BSOP Millions of last year was a record breaker as it delivered an unbeatable poker experience. According to him, the event is going to be grander than ever this year because it will be joined by the LAPT Grand Final and Neymar Jr., Brazil’s football star, will be playing the role of an ambassador for PokerStars. He said that this will “increase overall participation and strengthen the competitiveness of the event.”
While the LAPT Grand Final Main Event will be held between Nov 25 and Nov 29, the BSOP Millions Main Event will be held between Nov 27 and Dec 3. Players can win prize packages to both events at PokerStars.net.
Established in 2008, the LAPT is a PokerStars.net sponsored event that has given away more than US$48 million in prizes. Its eighth season included stops in Chile, Peru, Panama, and Bahamas, where it was held with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). The Uruguay leg of the LAPT will be held from September 18 to September 22.
