The 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) live festival, which will run from September 30 to November 23 at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas features 88 bracelet events, which include a new flip-style bracelet event called Flip & Go.

Flip & Go is an online poker variant popularized on GGPoker. This new variant combines elements from the pineapple variant and the lottery sit & go format. The tournament’s fast-paced nature is perfect for players who don’t want to go through the “boring” parts, with the game allowing them to jump straight into the money.

This year’s WSOP will showcase a live version of the tournament, and it will take place on October 10. It is one of the new events being added to the 2021 WSOP schedule, which also include a $500 buy-in “The Reunion”, $25K No-Limit Hold’em Championship, $50K PLO, and a special Poker Hall of Fame Bounty tournament.

If you’re still not familiar with GGPoker’s Flip & Go tournament, we’re giving you a quick glimpse of its main features and how the live version will be played at the 2021 WSOP.

2021 WSOP – Flip & Go Bracelet Event

Event #20: Flip & Go No-Limit Hold’em is scheduled for Sunday, October 10. It comes with a buy-in of $1,000 and features two starting flights, running at 10am and 4pm on the same day. Those who aren’t able to make it through the first Day 1 can have another shot via the second flight.

The tournament essentially has two stages. In the Flipout stage, all participants go all-in until only one player remains at each table. They are dealt three cards and should discard one after the flop which is slightly different from the original online version wherein players discard a card before the flop.

Each remaining player is guaranteed in the money and advances to the next round where all survivors play the game as a standard no-limit hold’em tournament.

While the WSOP has tried incorporating the pineapple variant in previous festivals, such as in the 2017 Circuit event at the Holland Casino Rotterdam, this marks the first time that the series is running a live, flip-style bracelet tournament. Those who enjoy the game online at GGPoker can now test their luck and skills at the live tables during the 2021 WSOP, with a chance to take home their very own gold bracelet.

In preparation for the big event, you can go and try out this exciting tournament on GGPoker. Flip & Go’s are currently running every thirty minutes at the site, with four different price points to choose from: $0.01, $0.15, $2, and $25. Up to $150,000 in guarantees are up for grabs every day, and the operator isn’t charging any tournament fee for the lowest buy-in.

Crossover Between Live and Online Poker

Live and online poker games are played using essentially the same poker concepts, but they also have major differences. Both live and online poker have their own set of pros and cons with some claiming that online poker can never match the live poker experience, though online poker has the edge in terms of offering flexibility to players.

However, when the pandemic hit in 2020, it became clearer that both live and online games can actually merge and work together, and generate the same excitement and interest among players. When casinos and live poker rooms were forced to temporarily shut their doors, major poker brands decided to move their live tournaments into the virtual felts by partnering with online poker sites, and the setup worked quite well.

Online games like flipout tournaments were also incorporated into live events long ago which means that the inclusion of a flip-style tournament in the WSOP festival isn’t entirely new in the poker sphere. For example, prior to the pandemic, a flipout tournament was part of the schedule of the popular Unibet Open at some of its live stops. Several live poker rooms around the world also run flip-style games when hosting big tournaments.
