Prior to Thursday, Party Poker’s roster of sponsored pros boasted quite an international flair, but it was lacking something: women.  That has changed with an announcement from the online poker room that longtime poker commentator and player Kara Scott will be joining Party Poker’s grassroots team.
Scott, who hails from Canada but spent much of her adult life in the UK, will be representing the site in Canada and will take part in a number of Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) events.  Originally from Alberta, Scott is only the second North American to join Team Party Poker, the first being World Poker Tour (WPT) host Mike Sexton.
Scott’s deal will entail her serving as both a player and a presenter for the site.  Scott has years of experience as an on-air presenter for a number of sports and poker-related programs.  Scott’s resume includes a stint as the hostess of the European Poker Tour (EPT), on camera duties at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) and, most recently, as one of the hosts of the popular GSN televised cash game, “High Stakes Poker.”
Scott has also done presenting work for Party Poker as part of the latest installment of the Party Poker World Open and will serve as a presenter for the Party Poker Premier League which will film in Las Vegas in February.  In addition to hostessing, Scott has also taken part in a few Party Poker-sponsored televised poker events as a player.  She made the final table of the inaugural Women’s World Open in 2007 and took down the open field Party Poker Sports Stars Challenge event the following year.  She also gained notoriety for her deep runs in the 2008 and 2009 World Series of Poker Main Events.  She was the only woman to cash in both tournaments and finished in 104th and 238th places respectively.
“It is fantastic to have signed a deal to join Team Party,” said Scott in the official announcement from Party Poker.  “It works perfectly for me as I get the opportunity to further improve my game on the live circuit as well as carrying on presenting. I’m so excited about the future.”
Party Poker was equally enthused about their new team member.  “Kara is a great signing and we are really looking forward to working with her. She has historic links with PartyPoker.com after taking down the Sports Stars Challenge III and we have been super impressed by her progress since then,” said a spokesperson for the site.  “As well as being a great presenter, Kara is also a fantastic player with great results and the potential to go even further. We are excited about this new relationship.”
Scott will join a team that already includes Sexton, Ian Frazer, Remy Biechel, Felipe “Mojave” Ramos, Bodo Sbrzesny and reigning Aussie Millions champ Stewart Scott, who will be headed to the Crown Casino in Melbourne shortly to defend his title in the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event.
